I've seen pop up headlight hinges stocked by Skandix, reassuring for those of us who tend to break these things...

Woo! They do brush up well. Quite a few favourable comments too from the PH crowd.

Re: Now breaking a 1996 480 celebration.
Hi Jim,
Can I please request the front fog lights, the front indicator clusters right and left (if clear) and the rear cubby box that sits between the rear seats?
Thanks,
Dave

Wanted: Rear Centre Console
Hi, does anyone have a rear centre console spare (the one that sits between the rear seats) ?
Preferably in the Midlands area or the south coast for ease of collection.
Thanks,
Dave

Re: Battery terminal clamp
It was the positive one on this occasion but it wouldn't surprise me if they don't fail in pairs! Thanks for the offer Jim, I'll check out the cabling properly in the daylight.

Battery terminal clamp
Has anyone had the clamp on the battery terminal shear off? Possibly another thing to add to list of wacky and random fail points of the 480!
How best to remedy? Can a new clamp be soldered to the braid?
Thanks!
David

Re: Getting front seats out
I found a nice set of leather seats but they didn't have the runners. Plan was to bolt the new seat straight into the existing runners. It was easier in the end to remove everything and do it out the car. Even out of the car it's a right b*****r, especially those height adjuster springs. Harrumph! I...

Re: Getting front seats out
Thanks Captain. I never did suss out a suitable counterhold but happily the torx bolts holding the frame in were easy to budge so I've ended up removing the whole lot.

Getting front seats out
Hi, any tips on getting the front seats out please?
The four 10mm nuts holding the seat to the runners aren't captive (grr!) so they're just going round and round. Access to the other side is pretty tight, is it a particular spanner required or a trick of some kind?
Thanks,
Dave

Re: Chronic idle problems URGENT
Funnily enough I was testing my engine temp (cold start) sensor this evening. Stone cold it read 6700 ohm and after 15 minutes warming up that had dropped to 540 ohm. Broadly similar to Iroll's results here:

Re: MFU - tab arrangement
That link is superb - thank you!
I've already checked the capacity, it was on 61L, now adjusted slightly down to 59L for prudence.
Cheers guys.

MFU - tab arrangement
Hello, I want to check my MFU (the circuit board behind the instruments that calculates MPG and range). At the moment my readings are about 20% optimistic, probably because the infocentre was replaced and parts would have come off a different model. Does anyone know what arrangement of pins/tabs is ...

Re: Emissions for MOT - idle CO high
Well yesterday was nothing if not entertaining. The electrics to the entire rear light clusters went out halfway through the MOT, even took out the rear number plate lights. Fortunately a few digs with a screwdriver brought them back. That'll teach me to leave her parked outside the night before the...

Re: Emissions for MOT - idle CO high
I do hate emissions gremlins! Well the new MAF made a difference but a fix it was not. CO is now down to 0.6% on idle, consistent over several tests. Curiously with the new MAF the lambda behaves very differently, now oscillating between 0.2v and 0.5v sporadically. I guess that's the next suspect an...

Re: Emissions for MOT - idle CO high
Quick update: Measured the resistance of my MAF tonight, that was 863ohm which seems on the high side. I wound it back down to 443ohm to see if it helped the emissions. It didn't but darkness descended before I had time to set the MAF properly. Tomorrow I will set it again with the LED lead. Should ...

Re: Emissions for MOT - idle CO high
Thanks Iroll. Luckily I am picking up a known good MAF on Saturday so I'll try that first and post an update.
