Re: 27mA current drain, is it normal?
It's a 1995. Interesting, I didn't think to check the charging voltage at the battery terminals, I was trusting the little voltmeter gauge inside the car. With that said, I tested it, it's a steady-ish 14.4V at idle, drops slightly to 14.3 when I increase the rpm of the engine, but still, I'm reason...

27mA current drain, is it normal?
I have been suffering for regular non-starts since the weather went cold needing me to put the charger on it in order to start. I measured the current load when the car is off, doors closed, locked and alarm on, which settles to 27mA, I wondered if this is normal or would this be considered excessiv...

Re: SRS Light won't go out
One further update since the problem happened again since my last post. I had a hunch that the dash light was at fault. This time I tested the signal coming from the crash sensor at the point of first switching to ignition position II. There is a voltage just less than 9v, which dropped to ~1.5v aft...

Re: SRS Light won't go out
Morning, I would like to share an update since I have got it working. Long story short, I removed the SRS bulb whilst it was lit (ignition on II), then put it back - and it went out. Now it does the usual light for 10 seconds, then off. Tested a few times most recently just now. Error code still rea...

Re: SRS Light won't go out
Hello, I have had the steering wheel off a few times during my ownership, but I have always been _very_ careful when replacing. That's not to say it's not the problem this time, but I have a mind that if the steering wheel was at fault the error codes would be along the lines of: 2-1-1 Steering whee...

SRS Light won't go out
Morning, My SRS light had been flickering for some weeks prior to being permanently on, which is the state as of now. I followed the well documented (https://www.volvo-480-europe.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=19326&p=168246&hilit=error+code#p168246) instructions to read the fault code which came up ...

VFC is mine... i've had it for 15 years and put 160K on it, using it for work and going to Europe in it. Some pictures of me there too.
Nice to see that the members from the meet still read the forum...

Re: Momo Wheel
Good luck dealing with them, my personal experiences with Douglas Valley Breakers have always been pretty poor. Most recently, some parts I ordered were broken when removed (by them), and aggressively refused to return my money for the parts that were damaged. A quick Google check of their reviews s...

Re: Manual Gearbox Oil Change - Ins and Outs
Hello, After having a gearbox replaced in the past (probably not due to incorrect oil), I always used the genuine Volvo or Millers oil in the replacement, and did so for the last 13 years (since it got replaced) and the gearbox has remained in good order since. I took some time to contact Volvo abou...

Re: Gearbox/driveshaft bellows bearing - how to refit
Thanks - I did the job a few weekends ago. In the end, I got a 30mm spanner and hammered the new bearing back onto the driveshaft using the spanner as an aid. No leaks so far, but don't know if I damaged the bearing by doing so, causing a future premature failure... guess I'll find out Kind Regards,...

Gearbox/driveshaft bellows bearing - how to refit
Hello, after finding out that the spare driveshaft I have is wrong. I will replace the leaking bearing + bellows boot on my existing driveshaft. Left side. I don't have a problem to remove/refit the spider/tripod nor to remove the old bearing, but how do I put on the new bearing without damaging it?...

Difference between driveshafts
Hello - Please could someone tell me the difference between the 1.7 driveshaft and the 2.0/Turbo driveshaft? I am taking about the left side, with the spider joint that goes directly into the gearbox. The parts manual lists two part numbers 9031180 -- exc b20f/turbo 9031181 -- b20f/turbo The parts m...

Re: Oil on speed sensor
I would expect its option 1. The avg speed was no longer being reported, the feed to the car radio was not working, and after driving at speed to a stop at a junction the engine would stall, which leads me to believe its the feed to the ECU rather anything from the ECU. Just for some background; The...

Oil on speed sensor
I have been having intermittent problems with my speed sensor (not the dashboard, rather the feed to the ECU). So, I took it out the other day to clean it, to find some gear oil on the sensor. Could this be the cause of the problems I'm getting? The sensor is a sealed unit, so I couldn't imagine oil...

Re: Ebay parts - Be Aware
Every time I tried to order something from there, I had my money refunded as the part advertised was not in stock. So I had the inconvenience of trying to source the part elsewhere at the last moment.
I am not bothering to order anything from them again.

Re: Cambelt Questions
Well, it's done. I had another go, the weekend before, at the crankshaft pulley but it wasn't moving. As i'd been quoted £160 + VAT for ONLY THE LABOUR, I decided to buy myself cordless impact gun and try to do it. What a tool - I had some doubts about the power of it because this bottom pulley seem...

Re: Cambelt Questions
So, Today was the day. I spent well over an hour trying to get the locking pin bolt out. Ended up rounding it off. Accepted that it probably hasn't been removed for 15years. Decided to have a go at removing the crankshaft pulley. No chance. car was 5th gear, wheels on the floor, and a 2ft breaker ba...
