Re: Pre-Production car for sale in Belgium

I'm sure you could register it in the UK if you really tried. I've read of cars that have a VIN number stamped on after it's been imported and the DVLA are happy with that.
Failing that could you put it through an SVA test like a kit car?

Still far too expensive for all of that effort though πŸ™„

Re: 480 review

I always thought the criticism was a bit unfair, a turbo was only 12bhp down on an RS Turbo and everyone acted as if they were rocket powered πŸ™ˆ

Might be worth asking at the cat rescue place he used to work at, someone there will likely know.

Re: Volvo 480 Turbo Black - (Ebay Auction)

It's a nice part of the world, do you still live there?
I used to go there for work every few months until I changed jobs a year or so ago. Many a tasty pizza have I demolished from Lucano's in Kirkwall πŸ˜πŸ‘Œ

Sorry I missed all this, completely forgot about it πŸ™ˆ

No 480 tasks for me today, took it for a drive instead, the weekly shop done in style 😁

Jeff, are the Vega rims 14 or 15 inch diameter? Probably the nicest 480 wheels I've seen 😁

Re: Couple of electrical problems

I had an issue with my GT where the info centre was very faint and the radio didn't work. It turned out that the fuse carrier in the fuse box was faulty and was only allowing 6 volts to pass through.
Check the voltages at each of the locations that are faulty and see what you get.

Re: Flaming urgent

For a short term fix you can get various sizes of universal electric radiator fans from Spal etc. One of them with the wiring adapted to fit the wiring plugs should work just fine 😁

Re: Right Door Window + qutr glass + side mirror

Also, you'll have to clarify if it's the earlier wing mirror you need or the later type.

I'd be gutted to spend 300 notes on postage and end up with the wrong part 😡

Re: out of hibernation for a while.

It's already got a decent coat of underseal just to protect it from the Scottish summer 🀣

If I rinsed the salt off the underside every couple of days it should be ok, surely? I used to run all my previous 480's through the winter, the heated seats were ace 😁

Re: out of hibernation for a while.

Well, my Mk1 TT winter car is royally f@#"+& so I think my 480 might have to venture out on the salty Highland roads a few months earlier than planned πŸ™„

Any tips for stopping it from completely disintegrating? I don't think it's ever seen a salty road before!

Re: 1988 Volvo 480 ES - A New Era Dawns

The pop up motor in the 480 is also shared with a model of Ferrari so if we ever run out we can keep an eye out for them in the local scrapyard 😁

Edit: it's a 456 😁

Re: My Old Turbo (L904 FCW)

Was this the car that you converted to a Turbo?

I think you need to save it just for nostalgia and what it's history means to you. Any other car would be "just" a 480.

The front panel is a common/easy place to rot and doesn't necessarily mean the rest of the chassis has gone the same way.

You may as well get forged internals and fit a turbo while you have it all in bits 😁

Nope, that's the same wheels as my '91 Turbo (Atlas?)

Should have Taurus by that age of car.
