Re: SRS light and MOT
As far as i know there are only 2 type of seat belt buckle. the pre tensioner type and the ones without. The drivers side do have the electrical connector for the seat belt warning light on the dash though. It could be that some later cars were fitted with both the LDH and RHD market wired ones to m...

Re: SRS light and MOT
As far as I remember the pre tensioner aren't wired into the srs system and are mechanically activated. I'd get the system checked to make sure they isn't a morecserious problem. You don't want the airbag going off on its own. Or not going off when it needs to (airbags are only guaranteed for 10 yea...

Is the button to the left of the heated seat buttons a momentary switch or just a 2 position on off switch?

Re: High lift cam
As I say from what I've read on the Renault forums the n/a swap is a workable option. With regards to the efficiency of it is rarely talked about.
Would reprofilling the shaft to reduce the overlap and adjust the duration but keep the lift be a workable solution?

Re: High lift cam
I'm sure i've read that renault guys have swapped the cams from n/a B18's into the turbo's. I've also read that the F3P cam is a good one from the Clio RSI. Don't shoot the messenger pmsl

Re: Climair Wind Deflectors Still Available
I'd still recommend the Farad one's via Amazon. The seller is UK based so no silly shipping prices and the Farad box is shipped inside a DPD box so no way of damage occuring. Amusing they are still avaliable on Amazon that is lol.

Re: High lift cam
Apparently the B18E N/A cam is the best however where i remember seeing that info (renault forum) neglected to state which B18E. Could be the B18E itself (early 440 1.7 carb) or the B18EP but again the cams were apparently changed after the catalyser introduction to lesson the power drop. So you hav...

Engine Oil seals
I have recently been in need of a few oil seals for my lovely 480, however have been having trouble finding a couple (especially the intermediate and rear camshaft ones). So in my efforts I have researched all the seal dimensions and have corresponded them to Elring part numbers. Camshaft seal (fron...

Turbo Engine conversion
Ok so I have the opportunity to buy a 1994 440 GLT turbo and m thinking of putting the drivetrain into my 1993 480S (Now ES). Am I right in thinking that all the components necessary for this conversion are in the 440 or is there some 480 Turbo parts that I would need? I'm mainly concerned around th...

Would it be by any chance one of the 3 push fittings for the tray that fits under the dash in that area?

Quick update.
After just over a week of the deflectors being installed and the windows are behaving like normal. (i.e like they were before)

Open the boot and remove the bolts that secure the glass to the hinges. Warning the glass will fall on you.
Drill the holes through the hinges completely then have a good swear as you try and bolt it all back together.

Re: can the front wings be removed without taking off the no
The wings are also secured under the bonnet hinges. So you have to remove the bonnet. The hinge bolts I believe are accessible from inside the wheel arch. Therefore the front wheels need to be off. I remember trying to remove the wings from a breaker but gave up in the end and brought some already o...

Re: Climair Wind Deflectors Still Available
Right ok so The Farad wind deflectors arrived the other day and I've fitted them today. For anyone that doesn't know Farad is an Italian company. The Contents of the box is as follows: https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/444/18493119849_ed013e9a2a_c.jpg Obviously the 2 wind deflectors, an instruction shee...

Re: Climair Wind Deflectors Still Available
Just been on the Climair link and the deflectors have been taken down and the product listed as unavailable. (wasn't a couple of weeks ago when I was about to buy some) The cheapest of the other 2 mentioned above is the STX Styling one's. I received a website certificate warning when I added them to...

Re: Climair Wind Deflectors Still Available
Hmmm. Think i'll still order some. When cruising the countryside i usually have the windows down so if they are an easy fit and refit i'll just fit them when i go cruising. Transversly in the depths of winter when my windows remian firmly closed i could leave them in and reap the tiny fuel saving :l...

Re: My kingdom for a Valve, or 8 in this case.....
sounds to me like the belt started to go. Stretched so the timing went out giving the knocking noise as the engine detonates and the valves hit the pistons. Then it snapped.
Could even need new pistons. Defo need to get the head off to see what the damage is.

Re: small shoping list
The borbets come in 2 sizes. 16x7.5 or 16x9. BMW owners put the 16x9's on the back and the 16x7.5's on the front but if you buy new you can order any combo of the sizes you want lol. A set of the 16x7.5's should fit all round and with tyres that allow for the rolling radius even the speedo will be c...
