Re: Seatbelt button
I got some from Skandix ages ago along with a big order for the car. https://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts/body/interior-equipment/safety-belt-system/button-lock-safety-belt/1034049/ I don't think they are anything special or specific to the 480. For example, these look awfully familiar don't they: ...

Ah, there is a picture! Not showing up for me. Agreed, no way ATF should be in the manual box!

Re: Volvo 480 Turbo, Gear change problem.
Ah, the car has an automatic gearbox? It must used Dexron II specification in that case. What did they put in?
Ignore what I said about linkage being worn.
There is also a kickdown cable on the automatic which can be set up right/wrong.

Often linked to either wrong gear box oil or worn selector linkage. These should be still available as a part for a Renault Clio

I'd also be interested. Have considered a big bit of heat shrink but never actually done anything about it.

I’d maybe pop along. I’m from up there so could combine it with a trip up north to see family.

Re: Volvo K 6683 instrument cluster
I'd try asking people who are breaking the whole car. I'm not on the Facebook but there are probably some cars being broken on the UK group. My wife is a member and I am occasionally allowed a look! There is a GT being broken I think. I think someone on this forum put an aftermarket sensor in but ca...

Harmonica in the fuel tank
I started the 480 up today to let it run while I worked on installing a new rear seatbelt so that now my son’s bigger car seat can be installed (thanks Jeff!). The fuel tank must have to let some air in and out and I would imagine that it used to do this silently. Now however it sounds like a harmon...

Re: Heater matrix hose replacement
That wiggly f****r blew up on me too. I got a second hand one but was considering making it up from universal stuff from ASAP Supplies. I guess you have noticed that the ends are different sizes and it originally had a metal heat protection sleeve due to proximity to the exhaust manifold.

Re: Loud whining
Are you sure it wasn't the fuel pump behind you, between the rear seats? They can get a it noisey when very empty. Avoid that if you can as they can overheat and die.

Re: Any suggestions?
Stick it on a classic car policy. You won't get a no-claims build up but my experience is that it is so much cheaper it doesn't matter. I'm with Peter Best. Footman James prior to that but for some reason they got pricey. I'm not a fan of Carole Nash. My policy also allows to drive it to work, which...

Re: Heated seat wiring
I'd certainly give repair a go. I was lucky with one car and my repair to the thermostat lasted but not on this one, the wire is just too thin and brittle I guess. The break will likely just be on the bottom part and the thermostat can be reached with just the cover opened up, rather than full cover...
