Re: Scrap or restore? Honest opinions needed!

Are you using a 6-point socket on the plugs? 12-point is more likely to round off.

Are they still affordable now in Denmark or all gone and prices gone crazy?

There are relays in the driver's footwell (pop off the side panel like where the bonnet release is on the side) and also under the bonet, under a triangular panel up near the scuttle. Clean, cross fingers, repeat!

Re: Oooops I did it again....

The hinge of the backrest is just a simple clevis pin with a terry pin retaining it. Normally you'd recline the backrest then get to this pin to remove the backrest . Hopefully if you dig around in the hinge area you will find the pin. remove the clip and pop the pin out. You'll have to disconnect t...

Sorry for the thread hijack Jeff!

And before anyone goes more off topic with the debate of whether Snap On's eye wateringly expensive tools are worth their price, I just want to add that I'm not a fanatic and only keep in my box what they do best (and I'm tight!)

Re: Oooops I did it again....

I've unfortunately discovered 2 of the 8 torx bolts have stripped heads on mine... any tips on getting these out? I don't have much specialist equipment to deal with this situation, is there a decent kit or something available to get these out? My job has had me deal with a rediculous amount of sei...

Re: Scrap or restore? Honest opinions needed!

Wow, I have no idea what that extra battery termnal is for! The fat one, which will be bolted to the inside of the wing area next to battery before going down to engine and gearbox is the standard negative terminal. The one with red wires is your standard positive terminal. Where does the extra wire...

We had black bumpers on ES for a while after this H-reg ( around 1990) car for sure. I had a J-reg (around 1992) with black pumpers

Re: Scrap or restore? Honest opinions needed!

Are you going to turn it over by hand first? I would, after maybe a bit of light oil in the spark plug holes over night. Next day rock backwards and forwards, then turn over with big socket on bottom of engine, accessed with driver's wheel off, or jack up one wheel with car in gear and rotate that w...

Re: Scrap or restore? Honest opinions needed!

Alternators are the least of your worries now but I think JASM are under 60GBP for a refurbishment, but probably similarly priced when you include postage The rear windows come out easily so don't worry about that. Talking of windows, is there any corrosion around the windscreen, particularly where...

Re: Volvo 480 book

I contacted Eric some time ago about the book but haven't heard back. Has anyone else heard about how to order this? I got a message back from him saying that I had been added to the list and he needed about 100 people to fill up his orderbook, and that he would get back to me with payment details ...

Re: Scrap or restore? Honest opinions needed!

I would say that holes in the boot floor and footwells are a lot easier to repair than the complicated shape and structure of the rear wheel arches. How are your arches? To make a good job of these requires much skill and money in comparrison to the simpler parts that dont get seen as much. If the e...

Re: Visit to Lakes

That red auto 460 Turbo is surely worth saving - there's a pic of it on Flickr in better days... I believe the stuff lined up out front closer to the building are off limits as they never seem to have parts taken off and they did eventually sell the white 48)S which was there. However, that could a...

Re: 1990 Turbo Auto

The fuel pump has a filter on the bottom like a litte bag: https://media.skandix.de/pimg/1055830.jpg https://www.skandix.de/en/spare-parts/engine/fuel-mixture-formation/fuel-supply-system/pumps/filter-fuel-pump/1055830/ The fuel pump broke on my E-reg car and I found replacement difficult with the V...

edited first post to add D808 CPV pictures captured from Rob Marshall /"triumphtoledo"'s home videos from 1992!
but are you sure it was from 1983?

that would make her the first ever 480 owner anywhere...

Re: 1990 Turbo Auto

Glad you have him back.

Is that noise from the fuel pump only there when it is very low on fuel? I've had quite vocal ones in the pastwith pumps on nearly dry tanks. The fuel actually cools it so probably dont like being near empty all the time
