Re: Fog light and heated rear window switch busted - what to do?

With the heater rear window, if you get the light on the dash but no heated rear screen at the back, then you will have the damaged wiring at the tailgate (like Jeff posted earlier with a pic) which most cars eventually get.  If you don't have the dashboard light, then it's either the bulb or the sw...

Very nice. Unfortunately you will die from boredom when you talk to them about it though ;-)

Re: Fog light and heated rear window switch busted - what to do?

In my last E-reg car someone had taken the trouble running wires from the front fogs to the rear fogs, I guess to pass an MOT years ago. I replaced the switch, plugged the original wiring on to the rear fogs and everything worked. So the switches do fail internally. ‎ I would take Jeff up on his off...

Re: Cold start idle

You should be at to hear it I think. You can certainly hear the 1.7 one and the Green Book has a picture with the work "click" coming from it like a BatMan comic.  Maybe David could see on his disc copy of these books how to set it up on the 2.0 for you? Basically it should be easily adjustable. Fir...

Re: Cold start idle

Cool, if your IAC valve seems to work id look at the little switches on the throttle valve next. I am not so familiar with the 2.0 set up but on the 1.7 there is only switch which basically tells the ECU to tell the IAC to control idle when the throttle body is closed. ‎ ‎ Put your ear to the thrott...

Re: Cold start idle

I'm not sure but I remember that I was told by an ex-Bosch guy who cleaned my injectors that it opens and does a little self test when the ignition is switched on.‎ I presume that it goes full open to start the engine. But I could be wrong. I don't have access to my Green books ‎where I think the IA...

Re: Cold start idle

Ah, I re-read your post now and understand you changed that one. Did you check it's resistance first if it was a second hand one? They're a bit shit and have a hard life getting boiled every day. I would have looked at what you have too. As the idle air control valve is second hand, can remove it fr...

Re: Cold start idle

If you replied a sensor to repair the info centre display, then unfortunately this isn't the one that the ECS reads in order to adjust the mixture. You need to replace, or check the wiring to, the sensor next to the No. 1 spark plug (RH side). Firstly check to see if it is open circuit. It's fine to...

Re: Oooops I did it again....

I haven't read all of your post and don't have time right now. However, there are suspension poly bushes kits listed on eBay but they are only listed as Volvo 400. No I don't fancy stiffening up the ride and transmitting vibrations through the body either but I understand that needs must sometimes.

Apologies for thread hijack. We should probably post in a new thread if we are to continue talking about number plates. ‎

Re: Graphite grey 1989 480 Turbo

Do you have the original plates for your car? Even one? If so, there is a company in Norfolk that will be able to copy the original dealer artwork for you. The did Jeff's Turbo Auto's and they were perfect.   For me though, I just put this forum's Web address at the bottom in light blue Swedish numb...

Re: Graphite grey 1989 480 Turbo

If you want a plate with the proper old font, which finishes off the car nicely, you can get them quite easily from online number plate places like Plates For Cars.
