Re: Air-intake hose (Volvo Part #3448082)

They are semi closed due to Covid.

If you can't make contact, let me know and I'll try and see if they have the same hose on my next trip.

Can you post a picture of your hose as there are many more engine variants on the 440/460 than the 480? I am not so familiar with them.

A few years ago my daughter lost control in torrential rain (saquaplaned at a bend ) crossed the road hit a wall bounced back across road and thumped into the crash barrier and stopped . Car was just about driveable and limped home daughter was fine.
These cars are safe .
Ah Jim, how are you!?

Re: Just how safe should I feel?

Oh, and on the note of having good grippy tyres, I spun my old E-reg 480 on a roundabout at very normal speeds when it was new to me a few years ago. It had very old tyres on it all round. Thankfully it was a big two lane roundabout with no traffic around at that moment and it simply rotated 180 deg...

Re: Just how safe should I feel?

Yes those are things that I really find are a bit sketchy, in the case of the headrests, is it possible to fit an early cover to a later seat (so with the blue piping?) hypothetically of course, I like the view out of the back I think that would be very doable, just the material of the headrests wo...

Re: Just how safe should I feel?

Thanks man. Can't believe that was 17 years ago! It fels like recent and also like a different lifetime. I think they are incredibly tough and always feel safe in one. The only thing I think that is a dangerous omission is the lack of ABS and rear head rests on early cars. Yes those are things that...

Re: Just how safe should I feel?

I have successfully crash tested one and it saved my life for sure! Oh really! Could you please tell me more? I know that lakes one met the wrong end of a pole (the grey '87) and seemed very salvageable, and seemed the driver walked away See link in above post The worrying thing for the Lake's car ...

Re: 1991 480 ES "Williams" 2.0 16v conversion!

Looking great and I love the idea of that engine which has our block but new head, etc. It seems to tick clever upgrade and originality in my head rather than all out conversion which I approve of! its not quite oem+ but its in the same bloodline with a little bit of mongrel added into the mix 😉 😂 ...

Re: 1987 480 ES Project -- D-reg, 2nd oldest in UK

Going for painted bumpers then? You don't see many from this era with those, wasn't there an option for a lighter grey plastic in addition to the darker anthracite black option that mine has? Yes, painted bumpers. I just don't really love the black on red combination and if I'm paying for a respray...

Re: 1987 480 ES Project -- D-reg, 2nd oldest in UK

Wings and back emd built up by the body shop. Addition of rear lights really made it look like a 480 again. I took a trip to Lake's for the interior light loom which had shorted and melted on mine. Interestingly my original had the wiring for the rear grab handle lights which never made it to UK pro...
