Re: 40 years of the 480 in the UK - 11 June 2027

Better and better ! My camping days are long gone (along with the 6 berth tent that took 2 strong men half hour to erect) but I'm only an hour away, or a local Travelodge.might be a better option for me.

Re: 40 years of the 480 in the UK - 11 June 2027

Maybe both days ? Would suit me as I'm retired, but probably best to put feelers out to see how many others could come on a Friday.

Sounds good James. Punting would be fun as well. I'd definitely be up for it.

Re: My 480

Your rear lights experience sounds horrendous. Should you ever decide you want to invest in some better lenses bear the following in mind, copied from another thread The best option is to go to the boutique on the French club's website, volvo480.org. Their reproduction lenses and complete light unit...

Re: My 480

Hello Lewis Welcome to the club and congratulations on your purchase. It sounds as though the sponges of doom are still in place - hidden behind the rear bumper, one each side, dripping water where it shouldn't be. Get rid of them asap. You will probably find they have fed enough water in between th...

Re: Reproduction DRL lenses - 18 month report.

The best option is to go to the boutique on the French club's website, volvo480.org. Their reproduction lenses and complete light units are expensive for a very good reason. They were originally made by a man who supplies all the major car manufacturers lights for their prototypes. Once the design i...

Re: Seeking Wedgie Number 8

I wouldn't recommend a car from a storage container. I looked at one for the rescue group and it had been so hot inside the container that the plastic side trims were banana shaped. Don't suppose it did the electrics any good either. Wouldn't surprise me if the plastic sheaths had melted in places.

The Bumble Bee and the Bat a tale of the wonderful experiences Alastair had just before disaster struck. Al loved driving and shooting but also was fascinated by wildlife. After collecting Paris from store to go to the detailers we both pulled into our local petrol station so I could fuel up. Al pa...

Re: "Under the Bridge" Spotted

I think that belongs to Sharon Northmore who posts on the facebook UK group. She's a friend of Zapcity and came to one of the Rutland meets with him. My Snazzy was also a UPW reg originally, it's a Norfolk one. Al spotted her near Thetford once but he was on his own in the Saab so he didn't give cha...

Good to know that one is being saved, storm grey is a rare colour. There are only 5 or 6 with a current mot on the register.

Re: 480 meet August 2025

This event is back on now - Nordik Rides opened it up to all Volvos and Saabs to get the necessary numbers. They would still like as many 480s as possible so having cancelled our hotel booking I've now re booked.

Re: In memoriam John R. de Vries

I seem to recall that the talk in 2024 referred to the rear lights when actually John meant the natural light making the paint look different shades.
