Re: International Meet up - 17/18/19 May 2024 - Bruggen
Brilliant week end !! We loved every minute and the weather was kind as well. Many many thanks to the organisers. I was really pleased to see John and Janny de Vries again. We have kept in touch by email but nothing beats an actual hug! John very kindly signed Paris on the bodywork for me. After lon...

Re: Rescue Car: R5 - Black Manual SR Turbo
Sadly not. R5 is currently with me. Work stopped on it when R8 came along, purely because its an auto turbo which my hubby might have. His turbo is manual and he gets terrible leg cramps and sciatica after driving any distance in a manual 480. Jeff postponed finishing R5 to try to get R8 done as it ...

Re: Great British Car Journey
Nice to meet you too Roy. The weather wasn't great but at least it only rained a bit on the drive there. Just distinctly cold. Paul-b came along with his family turbo and a black ES from the Volvo Enthusiasts club so there were four 480s. Three Saabs, including Al in Kimosaaby plus endless modern Vo...

Re: Rear light seal suggestions?
I have warped rear lights, bought some closed cell a similar thickness to Jeff's light seals and added an extra strip along the top. That worked for my white turbo. If it's the side markers Jeff has seals for those as well. If it's the hatch seal try a 440 one from a scrapyard. They have a lip to ke...

Re: A happy new 480 owner with a lot of questions
Hello and a warm welcome to the club ! You will get plenty of help here from people who know a lot more than me, but I might be able to help with two things. The info centre has a back light - if the bulb is blown it becomes virtually invisible. Try looking at it in the dark. There is also a adjuste...

Al and I will probably join you. I have my white turbo on the road this month and Al wants to come in the Saab. It will be nice to meet you Roy. I'll have words in a few ears in case local members haven't seen your post.

Snazzy is also an L reg, and her indicators went really quiet recently as well. I hadn't got round to trying to find out why yet, so I'll be watching this thread.

Reproductions in fibre glass available from Wayne at wrcomposites, much stronger than the plastic Volvo ones. He has a website with contact details and out of date prices.

Really depends on how bad the rust is and how much its going to cost. I'd recommend getting that evaluated first. Everything else can be sorted.

Re: Releasing a few horses
I have a richmod and hubby has a robou - both modified ecus. Rich stopped making them quite some time ago, and Robou has recently wound right down, so you will likely have to try to find a secondhand one. We took my turbo to a rolling road day and put her on for 3 runs with each variant of ecu which...

Re: Late Bumper Stripes?
Yep, they’re standard. They are anti-vibration pads to stop the nose cone chafing the bumper. I think there should be some more by the indicators. They fall off in time, or the bumper gets painted and they never get restored. and if there is no gap between the nose cone and bumper it's virtually im...

Re: Headlight brackets
I'm not sure aluminium is a good idea - I suspect Volvo intended them as a sacrificial part to protect the pop up motors in the event of a gas strut jamming. As the motors are now hens teeth, I'd stick to plastic.
