Re: White Auto on C&C auctions

Interesting seats - that's the late fabric but on early seats without the rear headrests. Must have been an interim thing.

Re: Next meeting

Yes please! I’m in hotel quarantine and need something to look forward to on the other side! Sounds dead boring ! Taking the latest good news into consideration, it looks as though the Torque Volvo 600 might go ahead at the end of June, so I'm thinking perhaps the following weekend, 3-4th July. Res...

Re: Sven the Terrible

In the spring of 2020 Sven spent some time in storage with the top of the carcoon draped over him. The base was easy enough to fold flat and put back in the box, but the top was a nightmare. Not only an awkward shape, but it’s 2 layers of slippy plastic which both wanted to go in different direction...

Re: Subframe - Hull

Actually, thinking about it, I'm not sure the top one didnt come out of a 460 auto, which might explain the difference. Definitely for an auto mount though.

The photo at the top is a sub frame that came out of a 480 auto. The one underneath is now in my manual 2ltre.

Re: R4 - our first turbo rescue !

Do the stone protection bits vary in colour on so many cars simply due to differing age? These are nearly black. Is it just because it's been stood?
I've no idea ! Lily still had hers when I bought her and they were just yellowed with age. Maybe the Swiss got black ones ?

Re: R4 - our first turbo rescue !

Timing today was great ! We had a grocery click and collect order to pick up in Norwich so Lily got another run. The threatened rain held off all morning, so we whizzed Lily through a carwash as well and got back home in time to put her back in the garage and close the door just as the first drops s...

Re: Oh look, another high price

It is a German Collection - the seller's website has a walk-round video which quite clearly shows the sill guard, engraved Volvo Collection. I did wonder if it was a turbo with the interior from a Celeb, but it isn't. I've sent a message to the seller, don't suppose they will take any notice tho.

Re: R4 - our first turbo rescue !

Well Sunday didn't happen as there was a fresh fall of snow in north Suffolk with enough wind to cause drifts on the lane where R4 was patiently waiting. Just as well really, I was quite unwell after my jab - Al didn't even get a sore arm. Anyway, all back up and running now, collection was re-arran...

Re: Rear Torque rods

I read somewhere that it is only parcels TO the EU that are a nightmare due to them introducing all the new forms the day after we left. Parcels FROM the EU are ok as we havent implemented the new systems yet - due 1st April so best to order now before the import duties get slapped on

It's great, no drone or boom, perfect for a long motorway journey. As I intend to keep the car long term it was a good investment.

Re: R4 - our first turbo rescue !

Disappointingly, we had to postpone transport as the collection point is at the end of a very long lane blocked by heavy snow. It got cleared this afternoon but not finished til nearly dark. We've rearranged it for Sunday - according to the forecast it's the first slightly milder day so less chance ...

Re: Rear light cluster queries

May be a bit strange but I give them a light rub with toothpaste once a year Toothpaste is mildly abrasive, as is cream cleaner. Our Saab had rather dull lights, so Al did them with Cif, along with the whitened badge. All came up really well. The rear lights on our high mileage 480s were much worse...

Re: Rear light cluster queries

If you can get the rear clusters out, the best way is a polishing mop on an electric drill with some polishing wax. They come up really well without resorting to sanding. Just be aware the Volvo black sealant remains very thick and sticky so it takes patience to get it all off, and there is a hidden...
