Re: Help needed. No start. No spark

Well we can account for 5 running green GTs but then there is also our breaker, Junk. Not long after we spent a considerable amount on putting Sven into reasonable order we went to collect some spares from a GT being broken. I was horrified to find it was an immaculate green one with less than 50k o...

Re: My 'new' 480 has no dash warning lights...

Hi Ken, We used the leather from a passenger seat bolster for our GT's drivers seat (or rather a trimming company did) - you 'just' need to find a Two Tone breaker...... You can't just swap the whole cover over as the cutouts for the seat adjustment will be on the wrong side. There was someone on he...

Re: A Sorry Looking Celebration (Given a Lifeline!)

Hooray - V5 for 'Pud' the rescue Celebration has arrived. Next thing will be the MoT under jifflemon's very capable hands at the Sanctuary, ready for transfer to the Pamper Parlour for lots more expert tlc from dcwalker. The plan is for Jeff to drive R2 oop north, where we will join him for a micro-...

Today was cars day.....

A shopping trip to Norwich was brightened considerably by spotting this beauty parked in the city centre:- https://www.dragonflyjewel.co.uk/sylvia/bentley.jpg A 1950 Drophead Bentley Mk VI - apparently one of only two left in the world. It's left hand drive because it came from Monaco. The other one...

Re: New member, looking for a 480

As a further warning - I have been in contact with someone who sold a 480 Celebration at the beginning of September and regretted it before the buyer even arrived to collect it. I've just had an email from him to say he missed it so much, he has just come back from Co Meath in Ireland with a 480 Two...

Re: New member, looking for a 480

Hello Howard, and welcome to the club ! Currently we have a 1.7 pre-cat car in the process of being mechanically restored - the bodywork is in great condition with no visible rust around the rear wheel arches which is where 480s usually rust first. It's low mileage and has a great history file - eve...

Re: Help needed. No start. No spark

I was hoping it's the red one recently auctioned in the south west! It would be nice to have a bit of variety in the GT line up.......

Re: Early car in a bush

R3 not collected yet, R2 is still in the way at the 480 Sanctuary! No V5 yet - the plan is to drive it up to Yorkshire when it goes to dc's 480 Pamper Parlour so we'll need to have it road-legal. Fingers crossed we don't have to resort to another trailer hire.

Re: Help needed. No start. No spark

Lots of members on here sold a 480 and regretted it enough to buy another one! Personally I bought my first one in 2001 and still have it.
Nice to have you on board - I'm sure you will have your problems sorted very soon.

Re: Help needed. No start. No spark

Hello edmundpwb, and welcome to the club ! Nice to know you have bought a GT, they are getting very rare these days. You will get all the help you need on here and I see jifflemon is on the case already. Thanks to the pandemic we have not been able to have any meetings this year, but as soon as it's...

Re: Just how safe should I feel?

At least one session on a skidpan is also a good idea - I did a few many years ago and still instantly respond correctly on the rare occasion I hit oil/ice etc. I believe they are mostly at racing circuits these days

Re: A Sorry Looking Celebration (Given a Lifeline!)

Well good news and bad news on R2. The bad is that the facebook grey Celebration for breaking has already gone in the crusher, taking our chance of a drivers door and rear bumper in the correct colour with it (not to mention details for the register) :cryhard: The Lone Ranger (our Saab is called Kim...

Re: Volvo 480 Bus company

I really rather like the stripes on the side of the green GT. Why didn't I think of having Snazzy's replacement subframe powder coated in electric blue instead of picking boring grey ? O, maybe something to do with the fact I never look under cars  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let them all find a good ...
