Re: My Old Turbo (L904 FCW)

Spares should be less of an issue....

Theres actually a second 235 Red 2.0 up for grabs, and the balance of spares from a fully stripped THIRD 235 Red I gave James years back. Dunno how much of that he kept!

The 2.0 was in generally better condition back in the day and is complete bar a headlining.

Re: My Old Turbo (L904 FCW)

Whats considered unobtanium these days?

In looking through old pictures I found ones of Silver and Grey Turbos I scrapped that were much less rusty than poor FCW. - Which I guess makes your point!

Re: My Old Turbo (L904 FCW)

Can you see them now James? Hmm - Good question Edie. The engine I can sort out. The interior isn't so bad. The arches are nothing unusual for a 480 - I've seen worse, even 15 years ago. The front panel is more worrying - as if the chassis displays a similar state of decay its dead. James was thinki...

My Old Turbo (L904 FCW)

So I joined the club in 2004 after my father's childhood friend gave me a Volvo 480 Turbo. I'd had a ride in this car when it was three weeks old, in spring 1994...aged 11! I even have a photo of me in it somewhere. This 480 was a 235 red Turbo manual (Mk2). I had it for circa 5 years, until I event...

Re: Anyone had experience with these types of garage?

Q: How much does the Carcoon Airflow System cost to run? A: The Carcoon uses two, 12 Volt, 220 mA ventilators, and each ventilator costs a minute 1 penny per day to run. This amounts to less than £10 to run continuously for a whole year. The Bike bubble uses only one ventilator; therefore the runnin...

Re: Anyone had experience with these types of garage?

How about an outdoor Carcoon (aka TwatBubble)?

Circa 600 quid - probably great for rust protection.

Re: Rough running - B18FT

Sounds like an air leak.

Some bolt holes on the inlet manifold go right through. Thats a typical problem spot.

Otherwise seal up the manifold end of the inlet tract, and blow in the air filter end to see if it pressurises.
Or put a tyre valve in a jamjar lid and use a compressor.

I have my own set of photos from that meeting. Can pretty much name everybody too...haha. Big photo of my arse! Not my car though...but L904 FCW was there. I unofficially own it again as of yesterday, but some reassembly is required!!! (And it was rusting a bit in 2005...so bodywork likely, though i...

Nice to see you all, but sad circumstances indeed. Funny how such a thing can may one return here! What a strange car that links us. I think me and steve joined around the same time in 2004 and met at the Devizes meet....he later told me he left early because I was so drunk and it was making him twi...
