although they look kinda wtf, they seem quite popular among VW lovers and are held rare these days and hard to find. also they keep high price as for the set of used ones

Re: suspension 101, gas v oil shocks

as mentinioned before oil shocks would be more comfortable driving while gas - stiffer but with better handling capabilities. I'd definetely go for gas - that's what I'm doing on mine 480. as for the brand you can choose from KYB (Kayaba), Sachs/Boge, Bilstein, Delphi. either of them are good for da...

Re: Wanted ignition module for my 1989 480 ES

I found coil in one shop, the price estimated about 22E, the seller claims that this coil is also for B18F engine. But I don' t see the vacuum? http://img01.allegroimg.pl/photos/oryginal/17/74/67/89/1774678926 it's coil winding. however from the look of it I've doubt it would fit F3A system - haven...

Re: no spark on a 1989 ES

as new ignition module is rather expensive - ~200EUR  w/o postage on ebay.de it's better to be 100+5% sure that it's faulty :D first of all your 300-400mV reading is for B18E engine so forget it. you should have used next step in fault finding workflow which requires LED :) I'm not sure which...

Re: Wanted ignition module for my 1989 480 ES

that's enough. what you're looking for is Fenix 3A (also known as F3A) ignition coil by Bendix. found on early 440/460/480 1.7 B18F 70kW/95HP engines, from year 1988-1989. it has that vacuum regulator integrated on to it. have same 480 with exact engine though don't remember where vacuum tubes go fr...

Re: Wanted ignition module for my 1989 480 ES

sorry .. but where can i find the engine code? is it on the tag in the engine bay? cheers Robert not directly. use VIN from tag and this reader: http://volvo-480-europe.org/volvo480/vin_reader.php to find out your engine code. the code itself on the engine is located near oil dipstick, where it ent...

you'll have more luck if you could post your engine code as mostly different engines used different ignition systems

Re: I might have just broke my brakes !!!

Looked across under the car and saw a big damp patch on the road. Its a 195 N reg celebration and the reservoir has leaked at the base of the plastic where the long stalk meets the cxonnection to the servo unit. if I imagine well from your description shouldn't be big deal. connection at that part ...

Re: Engine pads (shock absorbers)

worn engine mounts could cause all this extra vibration and shakes. you could ask someone to accelerate engine sudenly while in neutral while inspecting engine movement under the bonnet. also by starting car you should see excesive engine movement underneath on the worn mount side. still better to d...

Re: Several electrical problems

Since the last 3 months my 1986 volvo 480 is getting me crazy with almost every electrical part. The headlights don't go up, the back lights neither. The heating system don't work, the info center and the backlight of the speedometer don't shine as needed... Every problem arrived at the same time s...

Re: Right tail light is out?

by doing this temporary solution the light faints when I use the indicators... this is because of the bad ground. if I remember well it's on the left hand side in the trunk somewhere around light cluster. the purpouse of the control box you've mentioned is for the rear taillights + brake lights + b...

I'm currently in the middle of restoring rear cluster on my 480 which is totally f***** up . it's completely matt because of age. basically I'll be following process described on our FAQ page (http://www.volvo-480-europe.org/volvo480/faq/faqitem.php?article=faq/80/rearlight_matt) just currently work...

Hi All, I will need to replace my rear wheel arch clear stickers when my 480 goes for its re-spray- the clear ones which I guess are there to protect the paint from stones thrown up by the fronts- any ideas about this, perhaps another manufacturer still makes something similar that can be trimmed t...
