Forgot to mention I also had the cam belt changed in 2005. Tax until September, MOT till June. Having probs with digi camera so sorry for no photos so far. Still trying ! Things seem to have gone a bit quiet so I'd better put a price on it. £250 ono, and I am open to offers. Car has to go, and soon...

'91 Turbo Manual for sale in Birmingham, UK
...and I'll say nothing about the football. My H reg is for sale, preferably as a project. Photos to follow but it's light metallic blue, 78k miles on the clock, turbo's fine with no smoke; engine's very good, as are the brakes and the clutch WHAT YOU WON'T HAVE TO DO: Change the clutch- this was do...

Indicators dead
Strange. They were working fine one minute then gone the next. The manual says fuse number 9 but that also covers the right-hand headlamp and main beam, both of which are working. Also 19 but that also covers instrument clock lighting, which again is unaffected. Literally nothing happens. Its not th...

Then again... :badmood: Battery warning light started to glow a couple of days ago and a dead car this morning. I've just had it confirmed that the one way connection on the alternator is buggered and its been eating the battery whilst the engine was off. Don't know if the dodgy jump start was respo...

Sparks. Oh my God. Damage report ?
Just come back from a week's holiday so again my battery is dead. Jump started it at lunchtime with no problems. However, tried to start it again tonight at 9pm: dead. Friday nights I do voluntary work at a local hospital which is in a dog-rough area so I didn't really want to be marooned. One of th...

Practical Classics did a full spread on the 480 about a year or so ago- a buyer's guide with, amongst some very useful maintenance info, tips on what to potential problems look out for. 'Everything' came to mind..! They featured an ES- did it belong to somebody here ?? I can't remember which ...

All sorted. I'll post this anyway as it might come in useful. Put the front wheels on full lock and checked each brake hose. They were rubbing slightly against the suspension strut, only slightly but after time it was sufficient to make that part of the hose shine. Thankfully they were by no means d...

MOT failure :( BUT- brake hose movement ?
Just got the red sheet instead of the green one. :badmood: Seems to have a failed on various small things that are easily fixed but there's a line about the brake hose that I don't really understand and the garage aren't explaining it well: "nearside front brake hose has insufficient room to move, r...

Newly fitted cam belt- squeaking
and bloody annoying it is too. Had the belt done as a precaution, my Turbo becoming hitting 72k miles (and becoming a moody teenager). Yes it is low mileage for its age. Doesn't squeak at start up, normally saves it for the end of a motorway run. Seems to have lost a bit of low end grunt too, but co...

Battery warning - why ?
  Had my alternator reconditioned (would rather have had a new one but the mechanic insisted recon was just as good- and gave a one-year guarantee) in January this year. Also had new alternator belt and new heavy duty battery. Started the car tonight and the battery warning light came ...

Right, this COULD vary. I have a schematic which seems to indicate its for "A.C RELAY". I presume this is air conditioning ? I need to get me scanner sorted out and I'll post the schematic for reference (this is for a 2.0 l mind- I don't know if it applies to the 1.7i and Turbos (my Turbo doesn't ha...

Well my forum log-on name should say it all. ;) My '90 Turbo is a superb drive and on a recent run from Birmingham to and around Cornwall, even a petrolhead mate who's rude about most cars was quietly impressed when I took him for a blast on the windy roads. Something about having 'good pick-up' :D ...

Well this is going to sound like a wind-up, I assure you its not. My info display went very feint for a few days (but looking at it from right-angles, as described above, I could see the info) Was just wondering about taking the dash off (and not looking forward to it) and was parked on a hill, nose...

My turn- I'm 31 with 6 yrs no claims and the best quote I could get was £650 for the year fully comp with Budget. Direct Line wouldn't touch me as I didn't have an 'approved' alarm or immobiliser and got quite shirty when I questioned this. :dispute: Seem to have to pay bucket-loads of insurance ou...

The Uniroyales on mine saved my skin twice within a week. Don't knock 'em. Not one but two idiots pulled out on me, both in the wet- the second idiot pulled out with so little stopping distance I thought it would be a case not of whether I'd hit him, but how fast I'd be going when I hit him. Pulled ...
