Re: got spark & fuel but engine won't fire up. update
Hi to All After a few months of head scratching & various part changes, coil, dizzy cap, plugs & ignition module & temp sensor I've finally found my problem. After fitting the new starter the garage couldn't start the car, it turned out a wire had come off the solenoid which they resoldered. Fit the...

Re: got spark & fuel but engine won't fire up. Ideas please?
Hi Guys My 480 now lives again. To cut a long story short...as it was trying to start after replacing coil & crank sensor I looked at the Idle Control Valve whch was replaced with a new one several years ago only to try unsuccessfully to elimate the 1.7's notorious rough idling. While my son cranked...

ignition relay where to buy?
Hi Guys The 480 still not starting & I suspect the ignition relay is playing up as the spark seems weak & intermittent. I've changed the coil, cleaned the earths, new dizzie cap & crank sensor & plugs. Fuel delivery is fine. Prior to the new coil it turned over but didn't even try to fire but since ...

Re: got spark & fuel but engine won't fire up. Ideas please?
Hi Guys Thanks for the tip, found my old multimeter just got to get a new battery in the morning. So will run some more tests tomorrow. I've checked all the earth connections & cleaned them & fit a new coil pack & the car now at least tries to fire up but still not starting & info centre still dead,...

got spark & fuel but engine won't fire up. Ideas please?
Hi Guys My 480ES 1989 B18E 104 N/A died on me the other day while out but luckily not too far from home. I checked I was getting a spark at the plugs which I was but the spark seemed weak, likewise the Coil HT lead was sparking to the cam cover but also seemed weak. Changed the dizzie cap & flywheel...

Re: 480 Turbo lowering
Hi to all if anyone does track down some 20mm lowering springs for the 480, give me a shout please. I've looked around on the net for 20 mm springs but had no joy as i too felt any lower was too much & i've widened my rear wheel arches. Think if you just want the car to look a bit lower get some sid...

new flaired rear wheel arches pics
Hi these are some of the pics from my earlier post regarding the flaired rear wheel arches I made a couple of years ago after the originals had rusted through. I have some other pics somewhere from when the wheel arch molds were being made, when I find them I'll add some links. Although I'm handy wi...

Hi
Have a look at perfect power's range of piggy back ecu's they provide the map tables you need for this & they're reasonably priced.

Re: My 480 ES chopped up and scrapped back end.
Hi I did my rear arches last summer as they were rusty. I made a mold of the originals & made some new ones from fibreglass. Infact i made 2 molds, one of the original arches & then i packed & shaped the arches with filler to make a prouder & wider arch to accomodate spacers on the rears on to fit w...

Re: Volvo 480 Cabriolet
Cool
you did my idea, one day i intend to copy the cabriolet design & replicate it but with a bmw folding hard top but make it a 2 seater.
Shouldn't you have left the roof roll bar in place. Certainly a good way to make a 480 faster with all the weight you lose.

Re: Rattle under car
Hi Towards the back of the wing, behind the plastic inner wheel lining is i think it's a plastic fixing or metal fixing that hooks into the body work from inside the wing, this sometimes breaks or rusts through & if it does it can make a rattle when driving, jack up the car & look underneath. it can...

Re: Diagnostic on B18E???
Hi i had this problem & it was a wire disconnected from the temp sensor, also have you checked your tps is set properly, (throttle position sensor) & make sure your gas recirculation pipes aren't blocked with gunk & the manfold to map sensor hose is secure with no splits. Check you're getting proper...

Sorry didn't realise it was a turbo so not sure if it will do the same to a turboed car, though I'm sure the same company sell one for a 480 turbo fuel rail, email then via ebay they're helpful.

re fse kit
Hi I've put exactly the same fuel pressure regulator on my 480 1.7 non turbo. They don't come with the correct adapter you have to buy it seperately which you'll also find on ebay in the 480 section. If you can't find one I have a web link for the company but it's the same people who've been selling...

rear hubs stripped threads....re-threading possible?
Hi All After the garage used an air gun to fit my rear wheels I've got some stripped thread issues on both rear hubs. Rather than replace both hubs would it be possible to re-thread the wheel bolt holes & fit over sized new wheel bolts? Any ideas anyone please my wallets a bit light at the moment. t...

repro cabriolet/comvertible
Hi has anyone chopped the roof off their 480 & made a repro convertible. I'm thinking of doing it at some point in the future & wondered if anyone had any specific 480 info regarding this. As there's plenty of room I was considering taking the guts of a bmw z series electic folding roof & making the...

De Carbon rear shocks
Hi
Has anyone tried de carbon gas shocks on a 480 before, I realise they're
quite stiff shocks but I'm eventually turning the 480 into an ocassional road car & week end track car.
