Re: Hard working 480's out there?
I've had my current 1 for over 6 years and run it as a daily driver. It's even transported doors and beds and all sorts in that time. Poor thing has had a bit of a hard time with awful people who feel the need to damage other people's things. Everything from mirrors and aerial to windows, theft atte...

Re: Head Gasket Replacement - DIY or NOT?
Hi, As it's been standing (or possibly more because it has) and if it's not actually using any water from the cooling system....it may well just be water vapour that has collected in the exhaust pipes as they do seem to collect it. I had a centre pipe rust out from being stood on tarmac(Read dry sta...

Re: 1990 Manual Turbo Starter Motor
To somewhat answer my own question, it appears that there are 2 options on starter motors; Both will happily bolt in place, but one is a 9 tooth (believe these are for pre '91/92) the others are 10 tooth. The later 10 tooth ones have a much thinner body, the 9 tooths are much fatter but I believe sl...

1990 Manual Turbo Starter Motor
Can anyone confirm if there is any difference in the starter motor for a 1990 Turbo (Orange ECUS) and starter motors from other years and engines?
Mine no longer works simply rattles and spins slowly or doesn't spin at all.
Thanks,

Wanted Flywheel for 1991 Turbo Orange ECUs
Hi, Has anyone got a flywheel for a 1991 Turbo Manual? The car has the Orange ECUs. I'm due to do an engine pull with several gaskets and seals to be replaced and a clutch change (massively slipping for a while now :S). I figure a spare flywheel I can get skimmed before I tackle the job it might eas...

Flywheels
Does anyone know if the flywheels are different on the N/As compared to Turbos?
Ie will a 200mm flywheel off a 1.7N/A fit and work on a 1.7 Turbo with the 200mm clutch?
Is there any difference in tooth count?
Are the fitments/bolt patterns the same etc?
Thanks.

Clutch Plate Thickness
Hi,
Can anyone tell me what the original clutch friction plate thickness is meant to be new?
This is for a '90 Turbo 200mm.
Was there any difference between the Turbo clutch and the others?
Were the 215mm clutches the same thickness?
Thanks

Compatible Starter Motors
Hi,
are all the starter motors compatible? Are there any recomendations for a starter from any other vehicles which are bolt on? My brother has had 2 fail in his Two Tone on a k plate (1.7 manual) and is looking for a working replacement.
Thanks.

Part answered my question as managed to get the laquered label off Chip is a 27C 256 I'll continue to look into what can be done and hopefully some testing in the not too distant future, but in the meantime if anyone has more info on the ECU I'd be grateful. Also if anyone has a spare ECU S101 706 1...

Fenix 3B Chip Reading/Tuning
Does anyone have the details of the EPROM chips used in the Fenix 3B ECU? (code/type/compatible chips) mine has a sticker that's been laquered over covering the chips number. If anyone knows if these allow you to read the chip while it's still in the ECU (eg is there an rx/tx pin on the connector si...

Bearing Rattle From The Steering
I've noticed as engine revs rise there seems to be a rattling from the steering column which sounds like like ball bearings are loose somewhere. Is there a race bearing in the steering column that it could be? Is it possible that it could be the powersteering pump? I've noticed the steering doesn't ...

Head Gasket Failure? 1.7 ES (sorry longish)
Whilst the engine currently produces decent power, reasonable economy and runs sweetly enough there are a few issues that seem to be suggesting Head Gasket Failure to me... Firstly, there seems to be a lot of steam from the exhaust, (and when idled on the spot upto temperature there is an oily patch...
