Re: Keeping your 480 outdoors

I'd only looked at that ad on my phone and didn't bother to save the pictures to view better. That front end has had a right few cracks off something Indeed! Not the one for me. I'm not afraid to get stuck in, but I got a real sickener with the MX5. I took the rear end off it myself with the plan to...

Re: Keeping your 480 outdoors

I was actually pleased to see it went to a father and son near you... my own son is 16 and very much sees the MX5 as his inheritance at this stage! I'll keep quietly watching the market and the "R" cars here. I do have a preference for a late/facelift car and ideally, a low mileage 2.0 with half/ful...

Re: Keeping your 480 outdoors

Well... if there's one thing I learned from this thread... "don't hesitate". I'd been waiting for transportation quotes from 2 firms before messaging about PUD. Oh well... that one wasn't for me... I'll keep watching and visiting the forum! On a plus point, door to door from York to me here in Count...

Re: Keeping your 480 outdoors

Thanks for much for all the quick replies... Rather than multi quote, I'll just reply to all here. I've plenty of room out front in the drive but the main space free is right in front of the living room window so a carcoon wouldn't pass the family test! They don't share my passion for old cars.... S...

Keeping your 480 outdoors

Firstly, apologies for lurking so long. 14 years, 8 posts  I'm still keeping an eye open over here in NI for the right 480. I've found two this past few years but both were in too much of a state for me to take on. I've got one other problem.... well two.... My son and a Mazda MX5! He fell for...

1.7S for sale on Autotrader: Opinions please!

As my search continues, I'm seeking out something thats really mint. I have little spare time these days and want something that needs very little (or nothing) doing to it for the next year or two... This one is in Manchester. Absolutely squeaky clean and is indeed a 1 owner car. Have spoken with th...

Spotted! - Red 480 in Lurgan, Co Armagh, N Ireland

First I've seen here in absolutely years :D A red 480 - just caught sight of its unmistakable rear, driving out of Lurgan towards Dollingstown today (Sun 3 August) at 2pm or thereabouts.

Actually, twas my wife that spotted it first. She's sold on the idea of getting one!

I had a Triumph TR7V8 a few years back. I had a wee mouse that got into the boot. The boot was closed and locked ! He was able to squeze through the panel gap and past the sealing rubber. I couldn't believe it. I know his route, cos the blighter left a streak of p**s up over the bonnet, roof and bac...

As soon as your nipper sees the pop up head lights he will forget all about other cars. Should be OK with the child seat in the back as I take it he is no longer sitting in a rear facing seat? He's already talking about the pop ups from the pics I've shown him! And as you say - he's in a proper chi...

Can someone enlighten me?... at what point in time did the Mk1/Mk2 thing happen? Were there significant changes made to the car?

Well.. I've made the 1st moves to sell my bike. I tell you what did it - my 2 1/2 year old said to me yesterday "Dad, sell your bike. If you get knocked off I'll have no Daddy". I've been teetering on the edge of selling up for 2 years now - but that did it. He did however go on to say "I want a bla...

I can see how a turbo car could give you the kick that a bike does... depends on what he was riding. My last bike was a 160bhp Fireblade which weighed just over 170kg, so it'd take a pretty large boost to match that thrill! I'm limiting my choice.. but was always bowled over by the sight of a black ...

Hello - newbie from Northern Ireland seeks advice

Hello! Been doing a lot of searching and reading - but need to pick a few brains if you dont mind :D Thinking of buying my 1st 480 soon.... I drive a V40 bi-fuel daily and love it to bits - but have admired the 480 for many years. I owned a couple of old TR7s not so long ago - a 2.0 litre and...
