I have an M plate ES 2.0 Auto in Flame Red which, subject to wifey approval, will be going in favour of a new car this week. The p/x price I have been offered is pitiful but with nowhere to keep her I will have to accept it unless anyone on here wants to take her off me ASAP. She has don just over 9...

My rear wiper has started to not return to its 'parked' position - it simply stops at about 45 degrees and I then have to turn the switch on and off to get it to move again. Any ideas what the cause might be?

Strangely, it works fine if the main wipers are on and I select reverse.

I really like that colour!

If you don't mind me asking, where did you get the car resprayed and how much (roughly) did it cost?

I like the idea of giving the internals a good clearout but am slightly perturbed by the odd story of it opening up weak seals etc currently held together with the very crud I want to remove. A further Q after speaking with someone here in the office - do I need to get a replacement crush washer for the sump plug?

My Grandad mentioned it on the phone when I told him what I was planning to do. Some stuff you put in after you have drained the old oil, run the engine for a while, then drain and fill with new oil. It gets rid of any crap that has built up.

I don't want to blow the engine to pieces tho.

As I am embarking on a voyage of discovery and picking a spanner up for the first time this weekend (read: doing an oil & filter change), is it worth putting some sort of engine flush through at the same time?

If so, has anyone got any recommendations on what flush to use?

How often do you all polish and wax your cars? Just wondering really, as I only tend to polish mine 2 or 3 times a year as I have a paranoia about taking all the paint off!!

I couldn't believe the price of spark plugs in Halfrauds on Sunday. £24.99 for a pack of 4! I thought it seemed expensive so waited and popped into GSF yesterday - exactly the same ones for £1.50 each +VAT.

I was aware they were a bit more expensive, but that really surprised me.

Thanks Esta. I tried that, but got some parts nugget who simply typed in the Reg and said that'll be £137. I asked for the power rating and he said he couldn't see that on the computer readout.

We got one from a scrappy in the end for £40.

Anyone familiar with these?

I need to source a replacement starter motor asap for my uncle's 1998 Clio 1.9D but GSF / Eurocarparts etc have said there are two available (a 1.7kW and a 1.4kW) but offer no guidance on which I need.
Any suggestions?
