Fuel Pump Gasket/Petrol Fumes
I am 'asking for a friend' as his 480 has a petrol leak/smells of petrol and the garage has diagnosed the fault as the gasket between the fuel pump/sender and fuel tank - the original Volvo part number is 3412576 which of course is no longer available. Any suggestions as to where to get a gasket or ...

Re: Centre Vent Removal
Thanks for replies.
The reason fro removing the vent is it is broken at the back in as much as the fins all go in different directions.
Kind regards
Chris

Centre Vent Removal
I am sure there are posts about this - but I cannot find any!
How do I remove the actual 'vent' from the centre console surround. This is the vent unit which swivels from side to side, and then there is the centre lever which allows the 'fins' to point either up or down.
Many thanks
Chris

Re: Pop Ups winking - fixed (sort of) - Best lubrication?
Have charged the battery, and cleaned the multi connector with contact cleaner and then contralube and they now work, although maybe the first time the are used each day they still fail and are then ok. Looking for a suggestion as to the best way to lubricate the mechanism and what to use? I suspect...

Pop Ups winking......
I am sure (and hoping) this is a simple fix!
O/S headlight goes up and works ok - no problems - N/S stays down and doesn't move.
On turning headlights off O/S one goes down - no problems, and N/S pops up and then goes immediately down.
Suggestions please!
Thanks
Chris

Re: Air Conditioning - Accumulator/Dryer - availability?
Have found the problem with a/c - hole in the condensor. Managed to get a new one! The firm replacing it suggested getting a new dryer/accumulator as well. I have three part numbers listed: 3457699 which seems to be the same as 471845 and then 3449832 which is apparently for pre 1993 models. Seems t...

Celebration in a Celebration!
Celebrating 30 years since launch of the Volvo 480 in a Volvo Celebration Although I keep trying to convince myself that I am far too young to have a ‘bucket list’, in reality the Land’s End to John o’ Groats journey is one I have always wanted to do. Recent events involving close family and friend...

Re: Air Conditioning - Puzzled?
No gas came out of it..... (maybe 4g or 5g) so it had lost everything.

Air Conditioning - Accumulator/Dryer - availability?
I had the air con regassed - perfect. It passed their leak test. 2 days later it stopped working. Took it back to garage and they regasssed it again - only ONE connection was made to the unit by the battery. Again it passed the leak test. Whilst regassing it, it would not take any gas, and then sudd...

Engine just died
I am standing at edge of M25 awaiting recovery. The engine just died in the outside lane...... It refused to restart - hence recovery. However some 30 mins later it started normally. and I have then driven it the 25 miles home. A bit more detail - on the way home it was driving normally and suddenly...

Info Center was working
Somehow I suspect I am missing something blindingly obvious. Took the instruments out 4 weeks ago to replace mileometer cog - sourced from Joep. All gone back together - everything works - info centre is now dead. Probably totally incorrect but something at the back of my mind says the info centre d...

Re: speedo cogwheel Joep fix...
I would very much like to publish the article in the Volvo Owners Club magazine.
Is someone able to communicate with the author and ask his permission? (Sorry I can't write/speak Dutch!)
It would also be great if they could email me the original pics.
Thanks
Chris

Re: speedo cogwheel Joep fix...
I too have just got mine. Looked everywhere to find a business that would do it - but couldn't had to do it myself! The pics are fantastic and I had no problems (apart from one) changing the cog and it works - MANY THANKS to Joep for being able to supply it. HOWEVER a word of caution which gave me a...

Door Weather Strips
No longer available of course. It rusts and bubbles with time!
Does any one have any solutions/advice?
I recently trawled the NEC looking for similar trim but with little success apart from one stand who assure me I could get it as long as I bought 100 meters!
Many thanks
