Re: How to mount a towbar...
And then, after 12 years, I receive an email notification on an old 480 topic... Nice to see that it is still alive and kicking ;) That is not applicable to the 480 in the opening post... The car did not survive the rust devil... But good luck with the tow bar ;) Greetings from the Netherlands, Thijs

Ok, I'll try to clean the contacts first. I also found, that one of the pipes on the EVAP system is missing... Could that be causing some problems? It's making a sissing noise, so I presume it's connected to the inlet manifold. I'll try to fix it in the weekend... Still thinking it's strange when ev...

It will probably be a Rica chip, you can consult them. They do know a thing or so of tuning ECU's. Does it matter if you floor it with full throttle? If it only occurs @ half throttle it could be your lambda sensor. In an earlier stage, before I bought this ECU, I contacted RICA and they told me th...

Tuned ECU in some sort of 'protection mode'?
Short intro, I'm driving a 1990 480 turbo, with an orange labelled ECU. For two weeks, I bought a second hand tuned ECU. It worked fabulous! But... A couple of days ago, I drove back from work and all of a sudden, the boost wouldn't go up towards the 'red area' anymore. I was affraid i'd trashed the...

Low boost edit: problem solved...
My 480 (B18FT, 1990) suffers from a low turbo boost. I've searched the forum for different solutions, but found one that draw my attention. It was a topic in which someone stated his boost was lower than normal. He also stated that his cat was 'rattling'. I have exactly the same two issues... Could ...

I had some troubles with the lights too, cleaned the swith and the problems were solved. Remove the 'switch' from the steering column and try to clean it, for example with contact cleaner spray. The body of the swith has a little 'hole'. Here you can see the contacts which are used for 'flashing' th...

Well, a total of 2700 km driven, no problems at all! What a ride! I drove 960 km in 12 hours (with a little trailer attached)... It's really nice to overtake a truck, just put it in to the 4th gear, floor the gas and just 'fly away  ', even with the trailer attached! No problems with the tempe...

Well, before I bought the Volvo, I had a VW Golf II with all the extra options (as in: none  ) So, with nothing on the car, it will never break! I had it for about 3 years and never had any problems or what so ever... Before that I drove a VW polo (build in 1985, 1000 cc engine), which was the ...

Hmm, I see you're all quite confident! And about the combination towbar / 480: Well, it's probably something that the Germans (I live approximately 15 km from the German border) call: 'Blöden Holländer' ;) A towbar is an accepted phenomena around here... And my girlfriends parents own the litt...

Will she make it to the north of Italy?
Will she make it to Italy :? ? She has to tow a little trailer (max. 500 kg.) and the top speed won't be above 100 km/h (due to the little trailer).. http://www.weegerink.com/volvo/car/trailer.JPG Well, after a lot of work, I think the car should make it, it’s a 1000 km drive to get there (of...
