Re: I am considering buying a C30/V40

UPDATE After giving it some good thought, I decided to go down the newer car route. So my 480 will be for sale on here first. I will make a post with all the details in the appropriate section soon. I'm sure it can be saved by somebody who can justify the time and expense, it would be a shame to see...

Re: I am considering buying a C30/V40

One of my Daily's is a P2 V70 (about 2004). Its about as modern as I dare go and annoys me constantly because of the dreaded "computer needed." Don't get me wrong, it's a lovely thing to drive but.... Front end rattles like skeletons fornicating in a biscuit tin. It's got new everything, and still ...

I am considering buying a C30/V40

Sadly my 480 failed it's MOT yesterday and needs a fair bit doing to get it roadworthy again. I have been considering selling it over the past few months as my living situation has drastically changed. I'm now divorced with my own mortgage and bills to pay. So a 480 money pit is less sensible now. W...

Re: Calling all GT owners

Thanks for the update. It's a shame they seem to be useless. Hopefully another time then. Given the price of petrol right now, and not to mention the hot weather that may still be around next weekend, I think I'll wait and see if there is another opportunity at a later date.

Spotted! Dark G reg this morning in Ford near Arundel

Here I was thinking I was the only 480 in the Arundel area. This morning, spotted a G reg dark coloured 480 near Ford. Unfortunately I was on my bike, so no opportunity to greet with blinky pop ups.

Re: May Mini Meet ?

I can do the 7th but probably not the 28th unless I can swap shifts around at work. I would either travel up that way Friday evening and stay with my parents in Leicestershire, or find a camp site nearby.

Here's mine. It appears that what looks like a broken pin is actually meant to be like that.

Ahh, could be a loose or dirty connection in the switch or the connector then.

Re: Pop up headlights sometimes stuck down

First thing I'd check is the relay, sounds like the most likely culprit. There is a post somewhere showing bridging the relay contacts to give the motors a work out. Also probably worth mentioning at this point to check the gas struts. If they're worn out, the motors will be under more strain and ev...

Wanted - Pop Up Headlight Motor

I am in need of a pop up headlight motor. One of mine has been playing up since I bought the car last year. The nylon worm wheel has worn out (I suspect the main cause of this was down to worn out gas struts, which I have now replaced with new ones), I have attempted several repairs by 3D printing a...

Re: Pop up headlight motor alternatives?

Hi David, Interesting about the light switch. I don't have a spare, but would that cause only one headlight not to work? The right side works as it should. If you do have a spare motor that would be helpful. First, I should probably get a multimeter on the connections to confirm the wiring to the mo...

Re: Pop up headlight motor alternatives?

My experience is that bridging the relay contacts and then let the motor run continuously for 10-15 minutes will revive 9 out of 10 popup motors. Only if the internal nylon cog has been worn out of the motor itself is seized you're SOL. Hi Brinkie, The manual screw still works for me so I'd say the...

Pop up headlight motor alternatives?

Hello, Does anybody know if a pop up headlight motor from another car fits the 480? I know there's a Ferrari one but obviously will be more expensive to get. The Mazda MX-5 looks very similar. Just wondering if anyone has tried to source an alternative when the 480 one are hard to find. My nearside ...

Re: My 480 GT

Great news, I am happy to report that my 480 passed MOT this morning with just one advisory "corrosion under side vehicle in places". We'll have that sorted soon, hopefully along with the high idle speed. I was certain that it would fail on the emissions or the idle speed being too high, especially ...

Re: My 480 GT

Update 10/4/2021 I think we are almost there! Over the last few weeks we have got the beam back on and the back end all back together with new shock absorbers, torque arms, anti-rollbar links and all new bushings. New rear calipers and handbrake cables sorted as well. At the front, the lower arms we...

Re: 480 Wheels = controversy!

My picks:

1. Vesa -IMO the best looking, plus they are what is on my current 480
2. Avior -My '93 ES had these and I much preferred the look of them over the 5 spoke options
3. Castor -Maybe slightly controversial, but I like the retro looks of these, they look good on the older models

not a weird question at all - but first.... Where did you find bushes with Voids in them????

The voids are vertical when installed
Thank you for clarifying! I got them on eBay of all places, only 2 available, looks like Skandix item numbers on.
