Re: Gumball Rally car wanted.

Mine will shortly be up for sale and may have to go to the breakers/scrap yard. I'd love to see it go to a good use like this. Mechanically it is sound, there are some small niggles caused by a loose conenction on the speedo and information centre. Interior in really good condition. Passenger side w...

Re: Argh Ignition Problem - Please Help!!!

After 2 hours under the charger, the battery of 3+ years (same battery that came with the car when I bought it and has needed topping up etc over time), definitely time for a replacement. What batteries do you have? Anyway, after the charge the car started up, my heart was starting to drop as I had ...

Re: Argh Ignition Problem - Please Help!!!

Just bought some new Ignition Leads (bog standard ones from halfords) previous ones were new bosch ones (replacing halfords ones) The car ran fine for 200 miles the other day when I was travelling back to parents the other day. Argh... Clicking noise is weird, before it would try to turn over and th...

Re: Argh Ignition Problem - Please Help!!!

Using Diagnostics, its stating 1-1-1 (no issues) misfiring or otherwise. Have checked the battery and water/fluid is to the correct level, just cleaning connectors now. On the one link I have linked to similar problems, someone has said that the numbering is from the RIGHT SIDE, does this mean looki...

Argh Ignition Problem - Please Help!!!

Hello, Having just returned from my travels I found my car was starting a little strange, it would cause all the dash lights to flash and just go click click click (I think - from the alternator) as soon as I pressed on all the HT leads it would start with no issues... Care is Volvo 480 K - Reg 2 Li...

Believe it or not I'm a civil engineer. Although I have met a few conservationists and surveyors on the island!

Re: I bet you don't own this...

I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw it. Just by chance that I'm on the island doing some work. Was on the american base, so most likely one of their workers. Definitely looks like it has been left for a very long time, so I doubt it will be claimed any time soon :( Really made my day when I ...

I bet you don't own this...

Work was kind enough to send me abroad to carry out some work. Found myself on Ascension Island, and I was surprised to find this... http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g17/muddyfox470/480%20Forums/Volvo480ASI2.jpg Couldn't believe my eyes, on closer inspection the heat and neglect  have taken it...

Although the car mileage is still rather low, my commutes are going to add to that now since I have started work down here in suffolk. It's now got about 87500 on the clock (for the past 3 years I've only done around 15k, but then I was a student only needing it for trips to Tesco etc). She's still ...

Was going to say who uses dialup. That US Robotics screen looks suspect. If you are going through a router, and no doubt you are on broadband, you shouldn't see any sort of screen like that! As VB says, most likely you have the BTHomeHub, if you do, what do the lights etc say on the front when it is...

Another Year... Another MOT (and free £20 voucher)

Well the weather certainly was against me, I stupidly booked it in the earliest slot, for 8.30 :s eek. Anyway had to de-ice everything, started fine, and took it to the MOT centre (Nationwide Auto - Durham). Had my £20 off voucher, so for £33.10 thought it was pretty cheap, and hopefully they'...

You were right well done, I had ventured into halfords before though and picked one up; they have two on offer... 286G and the 286. 12V 1.2W I thought I'd go for the green one for extra green-ness (well i bought two, so I can use the other one in the fan control). I might go into the electrical lab ...
