Re: “Mixed to VIN” aerosol touch-up paints?

Ah, yes. Thanks, Jeff and Will. Must try to find a supplier I can get to who’s willing and able to scan and supply in aerosol form. Cheers, guys!

Re: “Mixed to VIN” aerosol touch-up paints?

Thanks, Will.

Was that for aerosol paint, not for a professional spray kit?

“Mixed to VIN” aerosol touch-up paints?

A tight and awkward entry to our parking area and a narrow garage doorway with sharp metal strips to either side, combined with advanced age, has resulted in Jabberwocky (my maroon/flame red Celeb) all-too-regularly receiving ugly scrapes and bruises to the bumpers and side fender strips. Besides, i...

Re: Dark red Flaunden, herts/bucks

Hi, “100”. I believe you may have got the day wrong… or else there’s been an extraordinary coincidence. I was zipping through Flaunden area in my maroon Celebration, headlights up, testing out my newly refurbed dashboard in particular the speedo, which had been giving me problems, but this was on Sa...

You’re most welcome, Colm. If there happen to be any other bits of similar vintage you need just give me a PM and I’ll take a look. Good 480ing!

Re: Rescue Car: R3

Great to see R3 has her new owner and home. It’s also good to see the parts from my ‘87 ES (the clock, column cover and dimmer), by arrangement with David, have made it safely to you and been brought back to life. Good luck with the rest of your refurb, Colm.

Re: Pop up lights problem

Side issue: Hi, Jeff, I’ve just followed your link to the old FAQs - I was keen to see the internal workings of the main light switch - but, although I can see the headings and sub-heading text, I can’t see the pics/diagrams you mention. Have they gone missing or could that be a problem my end?

I’ve sent you another PM about your delivery, Gabriel. I did try via the email you gave me but it got bounced back. Best. Oscar

OK, buddy. Give me a day or two to get the stalk off (I’ve got a dodgy back, poor old bugger ;) ) I’ll pm you when I’ve got it, to get your postal details etc. Cheers for now.

Re: Wanted: seat belt holder, window regulators, temperature sensor (water) and rear tail lights

I have the fan switch and the indicator stalk. NB They’re both from an early 480 (‘87 ES) so the switch is for heating only, with the ‘off’ position. Switch is available now but you’ll have to let me know if you want the indicator stalk, it may be a couple of days before I can remove it.

Re: How are Drl lenses fitted?

I’ve used clear Araldite. So far so good. :D You need some form of temporary clip (old-fashioned bulldog-type paper grip or similar) to maintain pressure and hold the DRL lens in place during curing.

On Facebook V480 UK:13k mile ‘89 480 for sale £300

Spotted from 2 hours ago on Facebook ‘Volvo 480 UK’ a red 480 1989 (I think) with 13,000 on the clock at last MoT in 2009 advertised somewhere out West for £300.

Re: and then there were 9...... (rescue cars that is)

Well, not quite, because the exhaust system (except, I think, the cat itself) is rotten. So far I have replaced the downpipe (the flange meeting the cat was completely rusted away), the back box has just been delivered (the delivery guy thought it was some sort of tree sculpture thing in all its pa...
