Work has indeed begun on Rocket :D Mechanical type stuff first. He has had new rear shocks & bushes fitted. The cam-belt has been loosened (cos I did it too tight  ) causing the light squealing noise when cold, that I thought was a pulley! Oil & filter change. Pop-ups still not fixed, general ...

480 Has gone...................................

Sadly, my 480 Turbo Auto has gone to pastures new :cryhard: Afraid I needed another estate & just couldn't justify keeping 3 cars for the two of us. So I set about the task of selling a RHD, French registered 480T Auto here in France. 99% of the replies mentioned "Oh if only it was LHD" & thoughts o...

Thanks once again GJ. Its defo well down on fuel as is needing a fill-up once in wifeys working week as opposed to previously lasting nearly two of her 'work weeks'. I will do a fill-up 'test though. Also gonna do that comp' test. However I made a command decision last night. The 480 is going to go!...

Hi Iroll. Thanks once again, I'm learning all the time here. So as I got a 1:1:1, if I'm right that says no codes stored. Then it did its test-mode. I THINK I'm making some headway, as the plugs have still not sooted up. Thats 2 weeks now. So Lambda change seems to have solved that. Infact the plugs...

Hi All. Had another look at things today. Plugs still okay. Car is running well. Pulls well etc. However still at 23.7 mpg. TPS appears okay, following the useful linky on earlier post. Re-checked Coolant temp sensor. Engine Cold, (Tester at 20k) got reading of 8.73 (does that mean 8730? ) A...

That is dire. My mission today is to check Coolant temp s...

23.7 MPG is 11.9 litre/100km 8.4 litre/100km is 34 MPG which is actually pretty good I would say (I get about this in mine). The 12.8 litre/100km from the picture is 22 MPG!! Must be thrashing that bad boy! This is a useful site for changing litre/100km to MPG: http://mpg.webix.co.uk/ Got to rememb...

Yes to the plugs & filter. This is something I'm chasing & have been for a long time.

See this thread: http://volvo480.dragons.org.uk/forum/vi ... hp?t=16706

I only get about one day a week to try to 'fix' as SWMBO is out at work in it for the other 6!

I reckon it maybe. My 480 T Auto is suffering badly from low consumption. Currently doing 23.7 MILES to the Gallon which I reckon is something around 8LT/100KM. I would expect about 30MILES to the gallon, which I guess is around 11-12Ltrs/100Km? Maths is not a strong point, before anyone picks me up...

My 91' Turbo Auto has 145,000 Miles (so 233,000KM).

Runs & used daily, but is prone to giving me grief on a regular basis

BTW, in answer to your questions Air filter is new, well 2 or three months old to be exact. Crankcase vent - yep, I replace...

Measure cold start sensor again cold and when the engine is at full temp. Should see the difference in resistance if not it's dead. If the ecu gets the wrong or no info from the sensor it assumes 0c when starting and 20c with engine running, this is the get me home mode. But did you do the check on...
