You will need to remove the instrument panel to get there. It should be a Yellow/Brown wire on one of the two large connectors on the cluster's PCB, or pin 1 of the speed gauge. It is rather easy to solder your own piece of cable with a connector there. I am not sure it will work with your navigatio...

I have to admit it happened twice to me. In both cases I drove about 5 miles before noticing the smell. First time the cap was still there, the second time I had to buy a new one.

Cable between battery and ignition switch

I used a really nice weather to dig into my battery drain problem. When the car is parked, there is some 200mA drain and I suspect it goes higher than that from time to time so basically I can't leave the car parked for more than let's say 4-5 days (even with a brand new battery). Ca 30-50mA is my r...

Door lock state detection

I want to be able to detect whether the doors are locked or not and use this information in my computer. Where do I get this info? Is it possible at all without an alarm installed?

Yes, it has been fully working for me for quite some time now. Just finishing our own navigation module this month.

I had two ideas...one was to make a nice looking (vacuum formed plastic) bracket to extend the DVD player out from the dash and therefore i could have the flip up open. However it doesnt look right with something protruding like that. Not sure about UK, but in some other countries you would probabl...

Speed sensor

I need to connect some of my circuits to the speed signal of my V480. I kind of expected to find a regular Hall sensor or other notoriously known sensor. However, what I have found in my car is far from anything I have ever seen. The sensor has 2 wires, both of them connected to the speedometer. Usi...

WANTED - RH power window motor assembly

A small piece of plastic recently broke on my power window motor assembly, unfortunately it was the piece holding the cable that pulls the window up. Does anyone have the whole assembly available? I need the right-hand one (i.e. driver's side in the UK and passenger side on the continent). http://ho...

Thanks for the tip. Will check it out and replace it if needed. I still hope it is just some dirt or something like that. What is the critical temperature anyway? My other car is aircooled, oil temperatures between 120°C and 130°C are rather common and the fan only starts after temperature of ...

Thanks. I will check the engine, but I have not observed any changes in water level since the engine started to behave this way, so I think thermo sensor is more likely to be the problem.

Temperature

The water in my engine is often getting too hot (over 100°C) when standing in a traffic jam and the radiator fan starts too late. When driving, everything is OK, water at 80-82°C. The first guess is that there is a problem with the thermostat, that controls the fan. However, I cannot find anyt...

Power windows

Got a problem with the RH front window - the cable that is pulling it up is released (it has a small spring at the end). In the parts catalog and on my LH door I can see the cable is running inside the rail on which the whole assembly moves, however I cannot see *how* it is fixed there. Any info or ...

I have the original electrical schemes book for V480, but it does not list characteristics of the sensors, only connections.

I want to connect some of the car's sensors to the computer I have in my car and to do this, I need to know a bit about the sensors. I like the idea, but I would personally leave the bonnet white. On the rear shots, the car looks great. I do not like the darkened rear windows though - for this I am either for everything (which would look great, but is probably not legal, grrr) or nothing. The contrast between the front and rear w...
