...Why not remove the internals from the air box and fit a cone filter in there, that way the cone filter will be protected from warm engine bay air just the way volvo intended and it will have the original cold air feed going straight to it? ...Thats if the standard volvo air box is big enough to t...

Thanks for info guys. Hi Rich, Was it expensive to supercharge it? Ive looked into chargers on previous cars but its the whole adapting to fit thats the hard part, its all custom. Did you get your Eaton charger from a Mini? I know they use the M45. Did you make the pulley yourself? and how did you t...

Tuning the B20..

Hi all, Im still looking for a nice 480 turbo but wandering if its worth exploring the B20 powered 480s. Can these engines be tuned for decent power gains at all? I know the usual filter, chip (expensive and not much gain power wise), exhaust and possibly cam can be done but is that it and is it wor...

Hi Steve, thanks for words. Il be getting a 480 (for a start my mrs prefers it over the saab) she says she likes the "frog eyes" erm yea, lol. Anyways, id most of all prefer black, but I think the good thing about 480s is they look good in any colour. Only coloured ones I dont like is red and green,...

Thanks again for info guys. I suppose I can say which 480 I was looking at now. There was a black 480 turbo that looked nice enough, but I think I'm going to wait now for a mint example. - It will give me time to save some more cash as im looking to spend £1000-£1300 on a nice one, hopefully in bl...

VanderGraaf, thanks for the info. Its pretty much put my mind to rest about which spec year to look for. I knew about the traction control but I thought it became an option not fitted as standard? Do all 480 turbos after 93 have ABS and aircon also? Id like to buy a fully speccd car if i can, ive sp...

Thanks, il try and find the buyer's guide.

Does anyone know what year in particular I should look for? Did they alter things after 1990 then again in 1993?

Regards,

I might have found one but im not sure what year to go for? I hear the early ones (pre 90) are bad for electrical problems but all have rear arch rust problems, leaking boots can be a problem apparently and the renault engines have a tendancy to blow head gaskets, the pop up headlights can be proble...
