Reproduction DRL Lens Review 2024

If you're like me, and own a 480 who's day time runner lenses have gone a rather crusty shade of yellow, then you are possibly thinking about a new set. Thankfully like all the other 480 plastic light lenses recently, new reproductions have been made by individuals on the continent. These are not Jo...

Re: Rear light seal suggestions?

Daft question but is it definitely coming in through your tail lights? Other place it can get in are side orange reflectors and boot lid seal, especially at the top where the wiring crosses it to get to the stop lamp and wiper. The only drip seems to be coming in from the bottom of the taillamps. N...

Re: Rear light seal suggestions?

Evening all, After years battling and multiple sets of taillight seals I’m really at the end of my tether with my perpetually leaky rear light clusters which seem to let a steady stream of water in at the base of the light. :wall: I know that permanently sealing the lights in could be short-sighted...

I think those are Volvo 300 mats, but they look like they fit well.

Liking the rear mudguards. Though mounting them is difficult if the brackets that hold them on are rotten…

Re: Denso W22EPR-U spark plug?

Sitrep. So after installing them (they came gapped at 0.8mm out of the box) and a fresh set of HT leads they seem to work absolutely fine. Car pulls nicely and starts with no hesitation. Fuel economy on my little test run seemed normal too. I would have gone with NGK had they been in stock at my loc...

Denso W22EPR-U spark plug?

Hi all, Ordered 4 Denso W22EPR-U spark plugs to replace my NGK ZGR5Bs that are NLA as far as I can tell. However upon inspection the Denso ones seem to be around 0.4cm shorter than the NGK ones They both have the same thread, and absolutely everywhere online says they are compatible with all 480 eng...

Re: A happy new 480 owner with a lot of questions

Welcome! In regards to the broken rear window wash jet... Nothing to do with the tailgate wiring loom, that doesn't control it. The issue will be one of 3 things: 1) Dead rear washer pump - found in the screen wash bottle in engine bay. There will be one for the front windows, one for tailgate and o...

Re: Welcome Seymour

There was! The sensor read internal temp, whilst the infocentre does outside temp. EVERYONE needs to know that right?? The LCD-type Cassette holder that Jay-Kay-Em is talking about is an external temperature readout, not an internal one. The sensor for it sits in the exact spot the Info-centre one ...

Re: CEM Speaker replacement?

I agree with Mandi - not much to go wrong with the piezo itself, but yet another point on the 480 electronics where dry joints can be an issue. I happen to have a CEM 1 on my bench, I imagine that an L-reg will be a CEM 3, but similar enough layout: https://i.imgur.com/rd4jEPT.jpeg The piezo sounde...

CEM Speaker replacement?

Hi all I think I made a topic on this quite a while back but I'm pretty sure the speaker in my CEM is broken. All I hear when I put my indicators on is a faint mechanical click which obviously isn't coming from the CEM. Not only that but the 'beep' that should sound when you hold down the heated rea...

Has basically every type Volvo ever produced there including lots of prototypes.

I believe there are a few 480s there including one of the convertible protos.

Re: Am I crazy for attempting this?

Not crazy at all - my only issue would be parts availability, but seeing as you have three of them it shouldn’t be an issue! I’m pretty sure the 440/460s were sold in NZ, so a lot of electronics and mechanical components should be fairly(?) easy to find. I personally only know of two 480s in NZ. A v...

Re: Tyre pressure and weight rating plate

Slightly confused as to what you're after, Roy: on a 400 series Volvo the tyre pressure sticker is on the back edge of the door, just below the lock. Weights are on the slam panel plate under the bonnet. They don't have the same stickers as later models had in various places on the B pillar itself....

Re: 400 series tow mirror accessory

aye but does the window wind up ? ?? I haven't tried, but If they do, I they'd struggle! Not to mention potentially damage the regulator. The mirrors still go on with the windows fully up though. WOW  Are they meant for an FH480 running STGO and Volvo got their 480's mixed up  The...
