Re: 1989 ES 1.7 BREAKING FOR PARTS
Just to let you all know I now have a deadline for my rust bucket to make her final journey to the scrap heap! Must be gone by end of January so please let me know of any more parts I may be able to salvage for you! Also feel like it would be a waste to let her go on the original rims (as these are ...

Black 480 spotted by Heineken in Manchester!
Was literally talking to my work colleague in the van today about my failed 480 project and how I long to see a good working one when LOW AND BEHOLD... A black beauty pops out of nowhere! We both shouted in shock, and also kinda freaked us out! Just up by the Heineken brewery crossing princess road!...

Re: 1989 ES 1.7 BREAKING FOR PARTS
- NSF pop up light is stuck closed. The manual cog does not turn either way. Need to get it out! Sounds siezed if you can't get the cog moving so likely nobody would want it as a spare. Have you got the nose cone off? This might help access to remove the pod with a seized motor but I'm just guessin...

Re: 1989 ES 1.7 BREAKING FOR PARTS
Can anyone offer any suggestions with the following parts which I cannot seem to remove: - NSF pop up light is stuck closed. The manual cog does not turn either way. Need to get it out! - Aerial not budging. The nut on the exterior seems to move the whole aerial and worried if i twist too much it'll...

Re: 1989 ES 1.7 BREAKING FOR PARTS
The antenna may already be spoken for. I will have to get the thing off and fully inspect as I don't know the full condition of it yet! As with most of the car, things seem to look OK on the surface until you look underneath...

Re: 1989 ES 1.7 BREAKING FOR PARTS
I also have a brand new windscreen, unused, gathering dust in my room, with the rearview mirror bracket fitted. I was clearly jumping the gun getting this! What sort of price are you looking for . I would be interested in the screen, mine has a stone chip and wiper marks that will not come off. For ...

Re: 1989 ES 1.7 BREAKING FOR PARTS
Hi Alfie yes that is what I meant, that's ok it's not urgent so I will keep an eye out. It's just if they aren't cracked they can be sanded and relaquered. My offside one is good, but the drivers side is cracked
They are likely too far gone for your restoration but here they are an...

Re: 1989 ES 1.7 BREAKING FOR PARTS
How is the Drivers side rear lense looking? I need an uncracked replacement (not necessarily pristine, just one that can be restored) Did you mean the rear brake light lense/unit (excuse my limited car linguo) - if so yes unfortunately they are both cracked. I will send some pictures so you can jud...

1989 ES 1.7 BREAKING FOR PARTS
I've started a new thread to hopefully entice anyone in need for parts... My project has fallen to an inevitable end, this 480 is just too far gone to justify the work so I am trying to shed as much of her good bits before she becomes a cube. Please see the link for some basic images of the rust buc...

Re: Scrap or restore? Honest opinions needed!
Hi guys, It is with a very heavy heart that today I throw in the towel with my 480 project. While I've only had her about a month, I am now fully aware that there is just too much that needs to be done to get her road legal. While it feels deflating, I think I would feel more deflated after spending...

Re: Scrap or restore? Honest opinions needed!
Well, even if it's not the only problem, the wet relays won't be helping anything! Sensible steps to try to get the water running away from that area. Blocked scuttle drains do cause water to find its way inside anyway... Others may know more, but all I can say on the plugs is keep oiling and gentl...

Re: Scrap or restore? Honest opinions needed!
A little update on the rust bucket... Seems the water getting into the front foot wells is from the seal at the bottom of the windscreen. I removed the plastic trim around the wipers today to find the entire inside clogged with mud and water. I've left the covers off to hopefully stop the water coll...

Re: Latest ebay offering
Funnily enough the poor condition/broken parts on this one are much better on my rust bucket! Maybe I could create a Frankenstein 480 for the monster to drive... still no guarantee it would run though! Its in my watch list, just for the hell of it!

Re: Scrap or restore? Honest opinions needed!
Another potential nail in the 480 coffin... Connected up a new battery today with the anticipation of seeing some form of life, one or two dashlights perhaps, even just one bulb to blink on... all I got was the backlight to the stereo (yes just the backlight) and a quiver from the minute hand. So cu...

Re: Scrap or restore? Honest opinions needed!
The rust is roughly in line with plastic side window trim (which is also rusted through) and certainly crunchy :wall: Breaking for spares is indeed looking likely. Although without getting the car running I have little clue about what works! I'd love to get myself another (and much better nick) 480...

Breaking for spares is indeed looking likely. Although without getting the car running I have little clue about what works! I'd love to get myself another (and much better nick) 480 and use this to salvage my own spares... but storage of 2 cars is going to be tricky (will require renting a garage) ...
