480GT for sale

It is with a heavy heart that I must sell my GT. I have not had the car that long but it has been good fun to own again. However I can no longer afford to run it or give it the accomodation that it needs to maintain it. So I am posting here first and hoping there is a potential new enthusiast who wo...

Re: Creaking noise

Hi Jiff
I have taken some videos when driving. You can hear the sort of creaking noise. You ok if I send it via email? It seems to occur when pulling away or slowing down but more so when Steering in a direction.

Re: Creaking noise

Hi chaps. I have finally got around to getting the strut mount and the bearing but still have to creaking noise as before. The link arms look new so don't think it's them. Is there anything else I could try? Many thanks

A358 Heading towards Taunton

I spotted an L reg green Volvo 480 on sunday. It was strange as I also have a Green L reg. Couldn't tell which particular type as only saw it at last minute. Looked a nice example though!

Creaking noise

Good morning one and all I have sorted a few issues on the GT but a creaky noise when steering I cannot locate and nor can the garage I took it too. It has a creaking noise when turning the steering wheel left and seems to be worse at low speeds. The garage i took it too said they think it's either ...

Re: Haynes motor museum breakfast club (Future classics post 1980)

Oh poop. I went to book the June breakfast club and it's now sold out. I went to May's breakfast club but since then they have joined the two events back together so all cars in at once (post and pre 1980's cars?) I guess I will have to book the July one instead. I could still come out for a drive ...

Re: Glimpses of 480s on old British TV shows ...

Still not got to grips with the pictures on the forum. But I think I have noticed a red 480 in the episode Back to school Mr Bean around 2:50 In.
My family think I am quite sad for spotting this.

No too difficult for me to get to provided my handbrake is sorted by then, is it just a turn up job?
You have to book in advance on the Haynes museum website. But it's only five pounds per car for the Breakfast club so not too expensive. Not sure how much museum is afterwards though.

Re: Haynes motor museum breakfast club (Future classics post 1980)

If you fancy driving there in convoy we will need to know roughly where you are coming from to arrange a meeting place. I am based nr Winchester, so let me know when you want to make a plan, will have to see what my arrangements are I am Taunton based. Guess we plot something nearer the time.

Re: Haynes motor museum breakfast club (Future classics post 1980)

Hi Sylvia that's Excellent. I mentioned this one as it is local to me and not sure how much chance I will get to go further afield at the moment. I have never been to one of these meetings before and I haven't been to the museum even though I have lived in Somerset since the early 2000's. A freind o...

I am planning on going to this for a bit of fun in June. Does anyone else fancy making a 480 convoy?

Re: Drl bulb holder wanted

Thanks for replies everyone. Alan that's an interesting idea. I could solder them in but still have them in the same bulb holders! Might just do that as wouldn't take much to replace even if I needed to. Just one question though, with leds are they an mot pass? They are so much brighter than the pup...

Drl bulb holder wanted

I have got the DRL's looking good with Joeps lenses and Jiffles choice of leds. But a warped bulb holder now seems to be causing my light to be a bit intermittent. Does anyone have any spare I could buy? I am hoping these are not in the unobtanium range!

Re: Help needed. No start. No spark

New parts arrived today and I've just thrown them on and I'm delighted to say that it fired up quite happily. I feel confident to say the part that solved the issue was the crank position sensor. But I also replaced the coil and HT Leads. The dizzy cap and rotar arm were also replaced last week. It...

Re: Replacing cracked windscreen

Hi Edmund I have been sourcing quotes for a "two-visit" approach. I am outside of insurance. Visit one: • Remove windscreen (and rear quarter glasses) • Deliver new windscreen Visit two.. (after windscreen frame rust removal and subsequent paintshop... could be September!) • Refit side quarter glas...

Re: Help needed. No start. No spark

Hi Andy As I say on the other thread after much searching it turned out not to be the relays. In fact it was the crank sensor on mine. Even though I tested it as described in hbol and it seemed ok. I only found out this to be the problem once I was able to borrow a crank sensor. The crank sensor goi...
