Re: Paris Edition found in Virginia salvage yard (J79 GOR)

Thanks @WillC9303! I'm very tempted to go grab every salvageable part left on the car

Re: Paris Edition found in Virginia salvage yard (J79 GOR)

Wow! I'm surprised to see this, especially as it's only a couple hours away from my house! Wondering how this was originally imported to the US as it wouldn't have been able to be legally registered on the road unless maybe owned by a dealer. Does anyone have a link to the original FB post which fou...

Re: 1994 Volvo 480 Turbo Diary - Update January 2021

Just wanted you to know that your work has been great to read and I love the details provided in the pictures. As one of the few owners of a 480 Turbo in the USA, having details about part numbers, pictures, and workarounds for things like the rear engine mount and your custom exhaust build are supe...

Re: Oh look, another high price

I noticed some inconsistencies as well, like the Pictor wheels, despite the seller calling them Taurus.

Re: Oh look, another high price

Speaking of high prices, since I've imported my 480 Turbo to the US other people have started following along. Recently saw this one for over $26,000 USD.

Re: High torque clutch for late Turbo's + pics

Appreciate the offer. Definitely not in a hurry. Parts are reasonably cheap in the USA, but only for cars that are sold here. None of the Volvo 480 parts are available in the USA and all have to be ordered from Europe (AutoDoc. RendCar, Skandix, etc). Most places have minimum shipping costs of $50-9...

I'd be interested in having a set. Also interested in seeing pics of the procedure to separate the existing/old lense covers and installing new ones.

Re: High torque clutch for late Turbo's + pics

I have a 1993 480 Turbo, which uses the 215mm flywheel/clutch. I'm in the US so there is no such thing as a cheap clutch to try  Appreciate any help from people who have easier access to a spare flywheel and a friendly parts supplier! Thanks.

Re: High torque clutch for late Turbo's + pics

Only pressure plate needs adjusting of bore witdh of 3 the holes to fit the 3 centerpoints(?) on flywheel: bore to 8 mm, try fit on flywheel and adjust bore again when needed, very precise and equally much! Would it not be similar to the example of the Sachs Racing clutch? Depending on how far they...

Re: High torque clutch for late Turbo's + pics

Based on this post I'm led to believe that the Helix upgraded clutch (Helix 30-4203) for the Renault Clio II would work for our little 480 Turbo wedge. Has anyone looked into this or tried it? https://www.demon-tweeks.com/us/helix-s ... lx30-4203/

Re: Robou ECU - Reset

I usually run premium (93 octane, E10) in the USA. However the current tank is some ethanol free gas I found in NH (probably 91 octane?). I'm about due to fill-up the tank, so I'll see if some new premium gas helps. Thanks.

Robou ECU - Reset

I've had my Robou ECU installed and running for about a month. It greatly enhances the driving experience and fun! However, I've noticed recently that the boost is occassionally getting limited like it's in a limp mode. Resetting the ECU with the jumper allows the engine to make full boost again (in...

Yes, I need to stop popping the dog to the woods in it, Jeff! Haha. Might use it for uni a bit in September (on dry days! ), about 40-50 mile round trip. Not done nearly as many mile as I thought I would this summer. Just saw the RADwood Goodwood event on August 11th I'd love to have gone to...

I recently did the whole front suspension as well and definitely agree that the ball joint was the worst part of the process! Almost stripped the nut and then once finally turning, it was slow going with one flat at a time.

Re: Coming to America - mathrock's USA Volvo 480 Turbo

It's been a while since I've updated progress here. Been fixing up a ton of things on the 480 Turbo in preparation for the Radwood 80's/90's car show. For those not following the 480 Facebook group. This past weekend we took the 480 on it's first major road trip, ~300mi round trip to the Radwood car...
