Re: 480 ENGINE CUT OUT.

I don't know if this will help, but it is worth a shot: When I first got my car, it had a faulty MAP Sensor. When one tried to start the engine, it would run for a couple of seconds and then cut out. luckily the vendor supplied a new MAP with the car, and when it was fitted, It started and drove fir...

The two loose connectors could be for the signal horn. There were two horns fitted as standard, so perhaps you are missing one?
maybe, although the horn (a horn) does work

Re: Mysterious connectors hanging underneath the car

The left grey button will change the units. You can either press the button on a very early car, or on later cars, insert a pin through the small hole in the grey‎ button. The problem with the age of your car is that MPG & Fahrenheit temperatures are linked and L/100km & Celsius temperatures are li...

First pic looks like your external temperature sensor.

I'm not so sure of the second one.
Thanks, at least I know that one is working, but not how to change the unit from Fahrenheit to Celsius units

Mysterious connectors hanging underneath the car

https://i.postimg.cc/0Ng7zYQS/IMG-3338.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/02BYsR1c/IMG-3337.jpg while the gearbox oil was being drained, I noticed these wires (2nd pic) hanging down, and wondered what may be connected to them. they are located at the front o/side quarter, near the bumper. I was wondering if ...

Re: Blue ES on eBay

There's been a surge of good 480's making strong money.... which is starting to bring a lot of projects out of barns. but I can not imagine a 480 ever reaching Capri price level, which I am happy about, for me the 480 symbolises the fact that you don't need to fork out megabucks for a great car, I ...

Reversed speedo wires?

Does anybody know why the wire on the speedo system seems to switch over on each side of plug? I was trying Brinkie's advice on the speedo fix, but stopped short of soldering directly due to this confusion, can anybody help?

Re: Blue ES on eBay

Would like to take a look but too far away before auction ends. Wish I had enquired about the E reg ES barn find in silver. Sold now but at least it's being restored. I was going to go view that one, a stones throw from me, but it was gone when I messaged the seller - it was in the colour I always ...

You're looking at the pop-up light side covers.

To contrast, this car has the more common black ones:

Early cars had their headlamp covers painted as standard from the factory. I think one colour got painted covers throughout production... Maybe white but I'm not 100%
Where am I looking for this?

Re: Launch car Found!

I agree about the mirrors but unfortunately the driver's side one got hit recently on a narrow road and he only‎ had later ones spare. I think he plans to get the original style back on. I also agree on the plates. It is difficult to get the old font but is doable if you order them ‎Platesforcars.c...

Re: Launch car Found!

That looks very smart, not sure about the choice of number-plate style though, I suppose it is impossible to find the right ones now. either way though, that is a very slick restoration, I will have to keep an eye out next time I am in Southampton! A Very nice Job!

uncomfortable gear change when oil is warm

when driving the car it has been observed that the gearbox has difficulty selecting gear when the oil is warm, it is worse when changing down, but still jerks a bit when going up. it also slips out of gear every now and then.
could this be a syncromesh issue?

any help would be greatly obliged
thanks

If it comes from a scrap car, you'll need to provide the exact VIN or at least the model year, because the fuse box underwent a number of changes. If if is in your car, I would keep it.
