Re: Rear Light Clusters - problem solved !

That is Spectacular!

They look really nice, shame about the lack of period Hella branding, but understandable.

I would only use them as a last resort however, mine are OK, but I would like to keep the originals if possible

that 480 of the president's is VERY shiny...

Re: ‘94 2.0L ES -eBay

No, the roller blind cover was an optional extra (only standard on Celebration); different therefore to the standard boot cover that clipped on. Might have one of those (boot cover, not roller blind) spare if you're interested? David I Might be, If my one cannot be fixed. my one issue about the 480...

Re: ‘94 2.0L ES -eBay

It's the roller blind cover, rolled up; compare to the blue one where it is across the boot... Those were the standard 14" wheels of the day - Antares, I think they were called. I agree they weren't the best, but wheels often turn up on eBay if you wanted to change them! David is the roller blind t...

also, what about the 460 aerial? Re: Electric Aerial Replacement

Trust me when I say wd40 won’t work long term! Old engine oil? Quite suitable! (But smelly and messy when it drips out). A single tin of my favourite (bilt hamber s50) would be the best £20 (Amazon price) spent on a 480, and would easily do both rear arches, and probably your doors and sills...

Re: Electric Aerial Replacement

Thank you so much Jifflemon, I have bee looking for such a guide for a long time, just hope my 460 aerial will fit!

If I haven't got any cavity wax, would WD40 be acceptable (got plenty of that!)

Re: How do I restuff a 480 headrest (or get a new one)?

This is the car they were talking about to you and I. I think they were very confused! I would only deal with them in person or on the phone (01480212291). I suspect email is like Star Trek to them! They should be able to post it. If not maybe pay over the phone, ask them to keep it aside and I can...

Re: How do I restuff a 480 headrest (or get a new one)?

I guess you have the blue piped interior? This is quite rare as it only went with a few colours (yours and white maybe). However, the headrests don't have the piping in so a car with red piping interior will also work for your car. There's one at Lake's Volvo, Bedford which is quite knackered but t...

How do I restuff a 480 headrest (or get a new one)?

'Evening all The passenger front side headrest has started to crumble, it is at the stage now where there is nothing between one's head and the hard base, a big issue in the event of a crash. how might I restuff the headrest so it either restores its old shape or improves it? I should be able to get...

Re: Novice 480s

However still have one major problem Speedo has never worked. I have taken it out and soldered the connections and changed all the bulbs so everything works apart from speedo. Next was to check the speedo sensor so took out the connector and soldered the wires together as advised but still no joy. ...

Re: Central Locking fix

Don't kn‎ow too much about this but the central locking is activated by a switch on the driver's side lock activating an actuator on the passenger side lock. So the idea of cleaning contacts up sounds pretty sensible as a start.   Also, the central locking system is controlled by the driver's side ...

Central Locking fix

'Afternoon all by now I have worked out that the 480 is supposed to have central locking, and now I want to go about fixing the Central Locking When I unlock the driver's door, the red tab comes out just fine, but the passenger door's does not. both locks work fine, but the central locking feature i...

Re: closest car to a 480? (that isn't a 480)

reason I bought the first 480 (now onto third) was I'd run a Scimitar previously (Se5a) but that was BEFORE the 480 appeared . .. . . So you think the 480 filled the gap left by the Scimitar after its departure in '86? (not counting the Middlebridge) yes but only when the two litre came along to gi...

Re: 1991 480 ES "Williams" 2.0 16v conversion!

as for the rear lights, i did have them lacquered at the time of the respray, however, the laquer was not thick enough so has flaked now, so a wee sand and re-laquer is in order :) Ok, but in the first picture of the car in factory spec, they looked like new, did you do anything to preserve them? WOW! I am not a fan of modded cars, but what you have done is nothing short of amazing! Do You have any plans going forward? It would make a fantastic Q-Car if it looked original on the outside, could create some nice surprises with that! Also, those rear lights look immaculate, have you done anythi...

it was just a photoshop! Practicalities were never worked out!
