Re: Does anyone know how to repair cracked rear light lenses?

Yes, it is a deep crack that allows water in, that has curved out, I would rather repair it and keep the originality than get a new one, are there any estimations of the price? repair price or 'second hand / half decent unit' repair is cost of araldite, but strange the root cause of the bow would n...

Re: Does anyone know how to repair cracked rear light lenses?

You know about this? Polishing the lense may be enough - depends how deep the crack is though. Captain Tolleys "Creeping crack cure" has been suggested previously New lenses (once they're in production) will be the best solution [quote=MisterH post_id=219291 time=<a href="tel:1579456099">1579456099...

Does anyone know how to repair cracked rear light lenses?

I don't want to be that guy who asks for replacement rear lights, so I'll have a crack at repairing one first. on my car, the passenger side rear light is fine, not perfect, but nothing a waxing session can't handle, but the drivers side, while still clear, has a massive crack in it: https://i.posti...

Re: Double Digit Registration Plates - A 480 Phenomenon?

I believe my F69 is the original plate, typing in the number and incrementing the digit from F60-70 shows a batch of Volvos with 2-digits of which mine was F69 (no.9 in the batch I presume) The quattro is also C77, that is the only Audi in a batch of VWs, but VAG garage might have held the plate for...

Re: Nilani - the latest acquisition

Glad you seem to be feeling more up to it, I remember you saying with my car that the arches can be replaced fairly easily, on seeing yours there looks like a major dent on the front quarter - I presume this is a simple replacement, or is it already done?

Hope things are well

Turbo for sale with an old acquaintance

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F392637506704 Seems to be quite straight from the pictures The guy selling it is the same guy we bought my car from. I would describe him as genuine, and he does have experience with selling these new. So if anyone is ...

Re: 1988 Volvo 480 ES - A New Era Dawns: One year on

It does sound like you have a leaky injector that is allowing line pressure through to flood the cylinder so the advice about taking them out and sending away for overhaul (not expensive compared to buying new ones) if probably done sooner then. ‎ The car's MOT is in February so I think we'll get a...

Re: 1988 Volvo 480 ES - A New Era Dawns: One year on

With regards to the B18 seeming to flood itself, yes they do do that some times. I presume you are starting without pressing the throttle at all? The car should provide the correct amount of air to itself by opening the idle air control valve on startup. Things to check on the B18E for good running...

1988 Volvo 480 ES - A New Era Dawns: One year on

Hi all, today is the first anniversary of the purchasing of my 480 for the grand sum of £650. Since then, its value has probably risen to c.£1000 due to the fact it is essentially mechanically sound. It has been the first car I have driven on the public highway, and I am very pleased with the choice...

Re: First 480, first real project car

Nice to see another Arctic Blue one found :) . I presume yours has a CAT given that it has the black rubbing strips, best of luck with the project, they are very rewarding cars! That is interesting, yes mine has a CAT with the lovely CATALYSER text on the back. Did not know the black rubbing strips...

Re: New Year, New 480!

If the speedo connectors have been resoldered in the engine bay, check to see if it has been earthed to the body shell mistakenly. after a year of trying to fix it, cut one wire on my car and it burst into life :wall:

Re: New Year, New 480!

Nice buy, is that a paris blue? I can never tell which blue is paris blue, because to my eyes that looks to have a purple-y sort of tone to it, and I seem to remember Paris Blue as being a very pure, deep blue: http://www.volvo-480-europe.org/volvo480/colors/318.html Can confirm purpleyness to pari...

I'll let you know what the colour is, once I've given her a good clean and polish. It is pretty much as it appears in the pictures though - my first blue 480! Looking forward to the short drive from Liverpool tomorrow evening, ahead of the MOT on Saturday morning. She will fail, of course, but I kn...
