Re: Fog light and heated rear window switch busted - what to do?

With the heater rear window, if you get the light on the dash but no heated rear screen at the back, then you will have the damaged wiring at the tailgate (like Jeff posted earlier with a pic) which most cars eventually get.  If you don't have the dashboard light, then it's either the bulb or the s...

Re: Fog light and heated rear window switch busted - what to do?

https://i.postimg.cc/nhLSyHGc/IMG-4556.jpg Well it wasn't the most dignified approach, but removing the ruined plastic actually allowed the front and rear fogs to work again, but the Heated window still doesn't play ball. However, given the success of this, some contact cleaner may be in order. eit...

Re: Fog light and heated rear window switch busted - what to do?

I thought it was looking a bit odd  Is there a reference photo of what it SHOULD look like? Pic above, but also, a view from the rear: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/cigcKth02hV8w7v7xoWQE0h7UeXCYtVS96jQE3BtQ-q5JEeSn7PUM2BVp9GeEWJoZATQDXPfztnxh4TcS47WwUhBlJCZ2didswbQ1U0jf8b9FtFi_SolbyusD5R0...

Very nice. Unfortunately you will die from boredom when you talk to them about it though ;-)‎ are they 'those' Volvo people then? wot 480 not a 'real' Volvo . . .. . . same as C30/S40/V50 being Ford, earlier S40 being a Mitsubishi ? we have something similar for WWII Jeeps, though not quite l...

Re: Volvo Enthusiasts Club

Interesting article on page 6 of Classic car weekly. The (VEC) is releasing servicing documents and tools rescued from volvo cars technical training centre for cars sold in the U K from 1957 to 2010. This includes all the 400 range and includes part books, repair methods and technical bulletins. The...

Re: Fog light and heated rear window switch busted - what to do?

that's in fairly good nick, EVA is 'shredded' only the switches hold it in together :? I thought you had used loads of two part epxy to re-build one? https://i.postimg.cc/HW7y9GZZ/IMG-4551.jpg this is the condition that mine is in, I am not sure if the issue is with the way the switch is slided in ...

Re: Fog light and heated rear window switch busted - what to do?

its more likely a problem with what lies behind the dash that the switches themselves - happy to send you a spare switch pod if you want to test though. The contacts sit on plastic towers that are part of the back half of the dashboard - very likely, they're all split or non-existent meaning that y...

Fog light and heated rear window switch busted - what to do?

'Evening all For a while now, the 3 switches on the side of the dashboard that operate the Front and rear fogs along with the heated rear window have broken, only the front fog switch works and even then when unrealistically pushing the switch hard. can this be fixed? it already has problems sitting...

Re: Shame! Shame! Shame!

I have a feeling that between the 'break it for the engine' Renault boys and the tbtbs (Thrash, bash and trash boys) the turbo is going to end up the rarest of the 480s. Maybe we should all follow jiff's shining example and have 3 turbos apiece ! I am not sure how much of a problem that is no...

Re: 1988 Volvo 480 ES - A New Era Dawns: One year on

The fuse box lid does keep popping open, some worse than others. I removed the corrugated plastic sleeve from the cables where the duck under the steering column, carefully cutting the insuating tape. I then made a hook from a piece of wire (about coat hanger grade) to attach high up on the steerin...

https://i.postimg.cc/QC9KC0DD/IMG-4537.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/76QTqjpX/IMG-4536.jpg Today I made an ad hoc fix for the fuse box that kept falling on my feet while driving. What I did was wedge a piece of balsa-type wood inbetween the lower footwell trim and dashboard trim, while screwing it into ...

In short, is this a 480 hate incident, or just incom...

Re: Get a load of this! period dealership photos 1988

I started to browse the (very expensive) pictures offered on this web site, followed the link of the photographer who made the pictures of the dealership, because obviously this guy was active in the late 1980s. Just being curious to life in the 1980s and 1990s and clicked on the very first picture...
