Re: My Infocentre has died
Just to add the replies on the thread (was also discussing on FB) Yes magic orange link in place and confirmed infocentre bulbs lighting. The LCD isn't doing anything shining bright light against it and nothing at all, no segments or anything so it's either the LCD controller or the infocentre compu...

My Infocentre has died
I think my infocentre has finally died (Sadly before I even got the car to MOT!) as now it's not showing anything on the LCD (even bright light shone through shows nothing), so it's either the LCD itself, the 'zebra' connector or the infocentre electronics have failed. Searching back over historic p...

Re: Fuel filter union parts
Well after a few trial and error goes, I've solved the fuel filter and pipework issue. I've done similar to what Jay-Kay-Em did in his long post that jifflemon pointed me to. Not exactly a standard solution but it's all crimped tight and once I've fastened it back in I think this will be good for th...

Re: Fuel filter union parts
This thing is really pushing me! So after waiting a week to get a couple of fittings as shown above, I find the fuel filter has two sizes of fitting. I'd bought m14x1.5 8mm as standard Bosch type fuel fittings. One end fits the filter, the other is too large :-( (Suspect M12 by eye) https://i.imgur....

Re: Fuel filter union parts
Thought I'd add an update. Unfortunately this one thing is stopping my overall running of the car right now :-( I've tried to get them undone and just without luck. One side is now slightly turning, but not spinning in the union so it's twisting the pipe. The other side just won't budge. I'm going t...

Re: Rear wheel arch liner compatible part
Rear, ah I didn't realise they were never factory fit. In which case the quest for finding suitable similar fits will begin as I'd like to protect as much as possible.

Rear wheel arch liner compatible part
Hi all, After spending so long sorting the rear of my Volvo480 out, I've protected the wheel arches but I'm thinking of putting a plastic wheel arch liner in, but as I don't have the originals I'm wondering if anyone has located a similar plastic liner from another car that would fit? Any recommenda...

Front and rear shock dust covers
Hello all, Going to be a few posts as I ramp up replacing parts on my 480 2.0 1994 edition. This one I made a mistake, ended up getting in all the parts I thought I needed (Meyle front wishbones, Maxgear shocks, Monroe springs) and was about to load them up on my hydraulic spring compressors then re...

Re: Rear trailing arm replacement
Thanks all. The bushes aren't looking in great shape so needing replaced unfortunately (@jifflemon I finally got the upper torque bushes out! so please about that). Looks like polar-parts no longer stock them as none appearing, so out of luck with the easy option of replacing them. I tried at the we...

Fuel filter union parts
Hi all, I'm still restoring my Volvo 480 1994 2.0litre and going to change the fuel filter out. The old one looks like it's been there since the start of time, really doesn't appear to have been changed often/if at all. And so that means the union fittings are almost chemically welded onto the filte...

Rear trailing arm replacement
Hi folks, I'm still working away at getting my 1994 Volvo 480 2.0 back on the road, all metalwork, welding, etc, done so starting to re-assemble the rear axle. I've seen Jay-Kay-Em's great post on renewing the bushes on the rear, however as I've only got a basic hydraulic press (spring compressor ty...

Re: Water coming in through driver window seals
Perfect, will get the wax ordered then, thanks.
Funny you mention 3d printer, I have the creality ender3 pro and wondered, but the size of it looks quite large. Plus I'm terrible at 3d creations from scratch (I more grab other items already created, slice them and print/modify a little as I need).

Re: Water coming in through driver window seals
Great info here, thank you! No plastic container for the speaker so I'll have to get creative. I'm thinking maybe an ice-cream tub type fitting around the speaker should do the job. I'll coat the inside of the door after cleaning it up to help it last. Will get the cavity wax too, sounds a good opti...

Re: Water coming in through driver window seals
Wow, so simple! Thank you all so much, that makes a lot of sense, I've not checked passenger side so I'll do that also. I've not got the box for speaker so I'll have to fabricate one for that, would also explain a few things, I'd guess there should also be a plastic box to contain the electrical con...

Water coming in through driver window seals
Hi folks, I'm finally getting round to sorting water ingress, and the main area I've found is the front driver window letting water in. I've got the carpets up, door cards off and can see water is coming in from what I think is the lower window seal. At the moment I've got the window motor removed, ...

Re: Import costs for Skandix Rear Wheel Arches?
I did this about a year ago, took a lot of welding and repair work. I decided to get the rear wheel arch for the Volvo 400 as the cost is hugely different and make it work. I had to do a bit of panel beating to get the shape as our 480's have a bit of a ledge at the rear to where the bumper goes, bu...

Re: Bolts dimensions and parts
Thats some spot on information there arthuy. Thank you for the pointer as I was searching and not getting much coming up. Also great find on the brake hose retaining clips. I'm about to order up some copper pipe as I'm doing the same, drop tank and renew all brake lines. You said about 2x25ft of cop...

Bolts dimensions and parts
I'm slowly working on my volvo480es and cutting lots of old damaged and stuck bolts. There are lots but I'm working my way through and having to grind most bolts off. I'm currently on the rear axle and now I've got them off need to identify replacement bolts and parts. Now the problem! I'm checking ...
