Last night I studied hard and I realized that the wire grounded to my alternator is the right one, the brown-blue wire that is the common sensor's ground.
So if it has a bad connection it could affect the functioning of both info centre and the standard S gauges....correct?

Re: Info Centre
I'm trying to check your 5 points, but to fully check the point 3 i need to know where my G-A3 earth is gone  IC bulb replaced with a new one, later i'll check the fuse (its the 21 right?), about points 4 and 5 I don't know....I need some electronic equipment to check if PCB and IC display are...

Re: Info Centre
No, they stopped working months ago.
I opened the cluster, cleaned and resoldered all pins, tried 2 different gauge units, but nothing.

Re: Info Centre
And another thing, I think my IC PCB is from a Turbo (absent 3rd pin), but it should works however exept for fuel range/consumption, right?
What I really need reading are fuel level and coolant temp, I can ignore the rest.

Re: Info Centre
Hi everybody, I'm having problems with the IC too. Mine is an S and in the instrument panel everything works but fuel/coolant gauges, so i'm trying the IC conversion. I found a cluster in very good conditions from a same year car (94) and also on this everything works but....dead IC. So i'm thinking...

Re: Instrument cluster/speedometer repairs
The difference is that the symbol that lights. Before the introduction of the B20F engine, there was a separate warning lamp for handbrake ((P)) and brake fluid ((!)). From MY 1993 onwards they are combined and a warning lamp for engine management failure (lambda symbol) was introduced. But the wir...

Re: Instrument cluster/speedometer repairs
Ok, got it. I have green/grey connectors, but I believed that clusters with and without infocenter aren't interchangeable because of some different pin-component's table showned in wiring manual (for example pins 17 and 18 on grey connector): "IC" cluster http://i64.tinypic.com/rm1b9k.jpg "S" cluste...

Re: Instrument cluster/speedometer repairs
On my recent 480 that I bought about a month ago the speedometer was dead and info centre worked only sometimes. The dashboard had been replaced but I also had the original dash/cluster so I started testing switching the different parts. For me what I found was that the Speedometers all worked, all...

Re: Instrument cluster/speedometer repairs
Hi everyone, I need an expert opinion for my speedo trouble. I think I did all possible to sensor, wiring and pcb, but my speedo still beeing off for almost half the time. Road bumps, cables/connector wiggling doesn't affect the functioning, recently I noticed that in the colder weather by night/mor...

Re: A 480 S awakened in Italy
I don't know if the claimed power is real, but sound quality and volume are good considering my car has only 2 speakers in the front without tweeters and 2 in the trunk. Blue illumination is not bad if you have replaced dash bulbs with leds, only thing I could say is that maybe its quite too intensi...

Re: A 480 S awakened in Italy
Welcome! That's a beautiful car, and it's in great condition as others have said. Interesting that the original owner went for an 'S' and then added aircon, a front splitter and a nice interior! I'd like to know more about the radio you went for, I'm always keen to keep things looking period-approp...

Re: A 480 S awakened in Italy
Thanks everyone guys, I'm so glad you like it :hopping: By the look of the driver's seat, this is a genuine low mileage car! Congratulations! (and the Toyota 86 is brilliant too! Bella macchina!!!) About the instrument cluster, check out this thread: https://www.volvo-480-europe.org/forum/viewtopic....

A 480 S awakened in Italy
Hi everybody! I was searching for a cool car from 80s for daily driving (so my GT86 can rest during the week) and I discovered a 1994 Volvo 480 S from a local classic car dealer. The car was closed in a garage from 2002 and it only had 110k km on the clock, this is how it looked when I took it home ...
