Re: 1994 Volvo 480 Turbo Diary - Half an Update November 2023

If it's any consolation we really enjoy reading the updates. I can understand your frustration around paint, what constitutes a good job is pretty variable. Having had paint on a couple of cars, my conclusion is that it will never meet your expectations, although your experience is clearly unaccepta...

Re: Late Brake Show

I assume it’s yours in the latest video then. I wasn’t sure as it looks bluer in the video but obviously it’s some distance away!

Are your bumpers now painted?

Dark red Flaunden, herts/bucks

Right, who was it?

Dark red, drove right past the end of my front garden on Sunday in Flaunden. Didn't manage to spot any details but it was a shame my 480 wasn't visible at the time!

I would like to give whoever designed that gearstick a lesson in what ergonomics mean  :kill:
I do think you are being unfair on the designer. I think it's ribbed design is perfect for it's intended use.

Re: 1994 Volvo 480 Turbo Diary - Update September 2022

Speed yellow with matching wheels for me which ideally I'd like to park next to a yellow on yellow 205 rallye. Don't judge my poor taste! Yep, very cool and exquisite taste I’d say. Besides, if you want poor taste, you could of said the Skoda Felicia “Fun” I was in your thread anticipating a...

Re: Paris the Unicorn joins the club !

The French meet does look epic, being a French speaker (after some acclimatisation) I have always wanted to go. How did you find getting about without the dreaded UK sticker on the back? Not much trouble? I refuse to put one on, and I have a lot of reproduction late 80s/early 90s Seacat Hovercraft ...

Re: The joys of 480 ownership

Doesn’t read that bad to me; pretty much standard fail items. Rear brakes (just service them) Rear inner sills (they all go there) did it actually overheat? Or did they find the rot, knew it’d fail so invented a reason for not testing? To me, it’s not a “thorough” garage, more one that hates older ...

:D Blummin lovely! This does now mean you’ll be parking a foot from any kerb, and will wince at every tiny suspension crash Standard practise even before the refurb! The catalyst for the refurb was the front left no longer holding more than 13 PSI - not ideal! Looks amazing! What colour did you use...

Small update but something the car has needed for some time now: https://i.imgur.com/JZ23kWP.jpg https://i.imgur.com/oX8SVNU.jpg I had these wheel centre stickers made up but I have a feeling they won’t last long. https://i.imgur.com/k13gr0J.jpg I had all the wheels off today to seal and protect the...

Re: Oli's 1992 Volvo 480ES Limited Edition

Don't worry I was just being grumpy and commenting on the state of the modern car; there's no way this car is going anywhere! Unfortunately, I'll be on to my second WR splitter now... Not because of their quality but because I gave mine a considerable whack! I think the springs the car came to me on...

Re: I never knew they cared....

A pretty comprehensive list, however that side profile of the 262c is extremely flattering, making it look like an 70's/80's reimagination of a p1800 coupe.

Alas, a much more awkward, slab sided shape in reality. For your viewing... pleasure(?): https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1248219

Re: Some seemingly random questions

Seems like most of your questions have been answered but I do have something say on the AC point: Assuming your moonroof works, put your windows down and open your moon roof. In my opinion, it's a far more enjoyable way to drive an older car. The benefit of doing so in the 480 is that they bothered ...
