Volvo 480 Club Europe

1988 1.7 ES now running like a dream however if you switch it off it doesent start. If I keep turning over it eventually stutters into life. If I leave for 5/10mins it flies back into life. Dosent seem to be overheating, new thermostat fitted. Any advice greatly recieved, thank you

New MAP fitted - And she has started, initially on 2 cylinders, then 3 and after 5 mins 4 + the rev counter worked too. The work towards the MOT can begin without delay - Thank you to everyone that have helped me get this far.

I have a new pump kit but not sure how the old pump comes apart, is there a knack?

Thanks for your replies, just got the pump out relatively easily, however it looks a little worse for ware. :cry: Not sure if completely knackered, no filter on the bottom, sticky black perished rubber and corroded. Fuel guage contacts also corroded. Taken a couple of photos and could do with seeing...

Just been out and stuck the meter in the connectors, I get a 12v and can feel a mild jolt in the pump. So maybe it is the pump itself. The car hasnt been started for about 4 years I believe and the pump must have jammed up.

Thank you for your reply, is there any specific areas that the wiring can be damaged? no obvious leakes in the main wiring around footwells?

Thanks for the advice - changed the relay and now getting the clicks with the key posistions and voltage at the fuse, however the pump dosent start. Checked the pump and one terminal had 9v registering, any thoughts?

The relay is in the driverside footwell next to the ECU with a fuse next to it.
The relay box under the bonnet is triangle with rounded corners (From memory)

I have no power at the pump, battery fully charged and engine turns over, but still no power at the pump. I have tried changing the relay with no effect I have to confess I am a novice when it comes to 480 electrics - F Reg 480 ES 1.7 - Thank you

Thanks for your replies, I have taken the CEM out apart from small amount of corrosion on the top right connector spades it all appears ok, nothing burnt out. The small relays all seem to be ok. Just got a voltage tester so will see if its getting any juice.
