Re: My 'new' 480 has no dash warning lights...

Quick an easy check; Remove the alternator warning lamp from the alternator, put it to earth.
With the ignition on, the lamp should work.

I'd guess you've lost a feed to the dash board.

If hazards work, but indicators don't, that's a switch issue.

Re: Help needed. No start. No spark

Three? that's a new one on me! These aren't in the relay box in scuttle, these are inside the car, almost underneath the relay box.

Head by the pedals, look up! Shall try and get a photo for you if I get a few spare mins.

Re: Help needed. No start. No spark

Honestly sounds like ignition relay, or the fuse next to it... Have you located the 2 relays under the dash? Remove one, see if you can hear the fuel pump when ignition is turned on. If you can't, you've found the fuel pump relay :D Swap them over; It still won't start (as you've now got now fuel pu...

Re: Help needed. No start. No spark

Unplug the coil connector.
The the tab facing upwards, there's 3 pins. (A,B,C). Stick a voltmeter between A and B. Switch ignition on. Do you get battery voltage?
Then check resistance between B and earth; should be 0 ohms

when you say "no spark", is that no spark AT the plug? Are you getting a spark from the coil lead?

Re: No start. No spark

How do I quiz the diags to see if there is a code? And is there anything else I can try? Many thanks From another thread (no point in me re-typing!) Right - first stop now is definitely to check the codes. On the N/S strut pillar under the bonnet you'll see a small black box. That's the diagnostic ...

Re: Help needed. No start. No spark

Dodgy earth cables are standard. Wouldn't stop a spark, but certainly no harm in cleaning it up. You'd suffer from slow cranking (or no cranking) if it was in poor shape.

Have you reverted back to the original distributor and coil pack?

Re: No start. No spark

OK, my money is on the relay.... So, there's the main relay box in the drivers side scuttle. Underneath it (and lord only knows why!) lie the fuel pump relay and ignition relay. Stick your head where the pedals are and look up, and you'll see them both. They're interchangeable - However, having spar...

Re: Pool Car R1

One of these is cracked too; it’s just the standard procedure of wet’n’dry to get them flat. You have to remember that flat surfaces reflect light, thus look shiney. These however, even after flatting had a lot of deep surface scratching; if I’d have carried on flatting the risk would be thinning th...

Things may start to slow down a little on R1 now; For those that don't know, I've got R2 to play with. This needs to get MOT'd and gone ASAP, as R3 needs collecting very soon!

Re: Pool Car R1

Apologies for the delay in updates; Its the end of financial year in "real work" and that means I'm little bit busy! Work has been progressing on R1 though; When I left you last, I'd pulled the rear lights out. Well, the NS light was possibly beyond saving, so I dug out my spare (again, not a pristi...

Re: Centre caps

the part number is the same; and the book has the same part number.

Now the only other possible thing is that the wheels are the problem.... However, I think they were only fitted to the 480 (and not 340 etc)

Re: Centre caps

Check the part no on the back - page 516 in the parts book will tell you which wheels they are for. An excellent plan; Part on cap cross-referenced and.....
