Re: Idle valve number
Got hold of the Bosch parts ID. This is their info on ICV for the turbo versions. c/n up to 567599 Bosch 0280140501 c/n from 567600 Bosch 0280140546 Changed mine as it was a 0280140502 (not even for a Volvo) but did it fix the stalling? Nope. Fuel filter next on the never ending list of probable cau...

Idle valve number
I’m been trying for some time making my 480 turbo to work but it keeps stalling and going rough, unable to keep idle rpms. So, I have changed loads of stuff but the problem remains. Next online is the idle valve control. Mine has bosch number 0280 140 502 but some say a Turbo (mine’s an -88) needs t...

Re: CEM Problems - Replacement unit needed, Help!
Swapped CEM but still runs poorly. Hard to start. Seems some like one sensor is not working. Got new sparks, cables and ignitor. Where should I start troubleshooting? Disconnecting a sensor at a time and listen for changes? If there is no change it could be the faulty one. Or are there any suggestio...

Re: CEM Problems - Replacement unit needed, Help!
Mines a -88 first year turbo. So if the item number match on the module it should work regardless if it comes from an ES?

Got similar problems and I am going to swap the CEM. Can you put a ES CEM into a Turbo?

Re: Smoke on the water
Pushed it to 102*C and voila! the fan started and got it back to 90*C.
Just a small leak at bottom hose to tighten up and next stop MOT!

Re: Smoke on the water
Thanks for quick reply. I could not identify any hole where steam was coming up or any dripping under the radiator. I will push it to the max and see what happens. If nothing, I will put in a manual switch. When the rad reaches +80 it starts to vaporize (steaming) and the fan does not kick in. Weird...

Smoke on the water
My 88 turbo has a strange fault. The radiator starts smoking at 80 degrees C but the fan doesnt start. Pushed it to 95 degrees but nothing happened. I have changed the radiator for a good 2nd hand one. I tested by shortening the electric cable from the thermoswitch to the fan and it worked fine. So,...

Re: Fuelsystemcleaning nightmare
Time for an update as I have devoted the winter to my Alfa. The origin of the smoke when starting the engine comes from the turbo. I think the turbo is gone as when driving the car before I could not go more than 65 km/h plus not finding the 5th gear. Anyone who has experienced a turbo gone smoking?

Ok, I will try to disconnect the cat to see if the white smoke disapears. If it does I got myself a nice welding job on the weekend

Re: Fuelsystemcleaning nightmare
Cleaned up sparks and injectors and now the car starts up fine, but........ still coming up white smoke from the pcv tube. A sticky burnt smell like old Ford Granada electric spontaneous combustion failures :D . But there shouldn´t be any Electric parts involved here, just the intercooler and the ca...

Re: Fuelsystemcleaning nightmare
Distributor, ignition cables and spark plugs are brand new. Everything worked well untill i put in the cleaning additive. If some goo got dissolved and stuck into the fuel injection system maybe could explain why it doesn't start up right away. So, my next question would be how do I clean the inject...

Fuelsystemcleaning nightmare
My -89 Turbo was stalling and couldnt get up to high revs. Classic filthy fuel system I thought and got some fuelsystem cleaning additive and put it into the gastank. Now, the car became difficult to start firing on 2-3 cylinders and after some 30 seconds it was running on all four. Then smoke was c...

AFM turbo/no turbo
Is there any diference between the AFM on a turbo and a standard ES on the -88 models?
Just in case a good cleaning doesn't fix the strutting.

Oiltempsensor spooky
My car starts to show STOP alarm for oillevel/temperature after a minute or two. The car is a -88 turbo. Disconecting the sensor gives the exact same behaviour. My question is weather I have a malfunctioning oiltemp/level sensor or a wiring issue?
