Re: Blinky 51/480

I have managed a few jobs in the last week. New door trim clips were a bit of a fail but have used some sticky back velcro which helps keep the infill panel against the door card. Changed the drivers speaker for a new pioneer one, soldered old connectors on so the tweeter can be used. Due to lock do...

Re: What period aftermarket radio/casette to use?

mmm I happen to have instructions for calculating the radio code.... It involves opening the unit up so a phone call to Volvo would be a whole lot quicker and easier if you get hold of the right person. If not, I came across this on the internet a long time ago: https://www.dragonflyjewel.co.uk/syl...

Re: May 23rd Virtual Mini Meet

Late to the Party I know, but I did actually give the car a wash today as it had been needing, and also attempted to fix the screen on the radio that dcwalker kindly sourced for me. Would anyone know A: how to get the volume knob off, B: why the radio screen would be blank, as the radio and cassett...

Re: High co2 emissions 480 2.0

Do you have the print out from the test? The Mot is only looking at CO, HC and Lamda. CO max 0.30 HC max 200ppm Lamda Min 0.970 - Max 1.030 My last test was CO 0.19, 49ppm and 1.006 The garage I used dont check or give the O2 or CO2 levels. A good running engine will look something this O2 ---------...

Re: High co2 emissions 480 2.0

Are you getting any error codes?

what brand of cat did you fit? I had problems on another car I had changed the cat for an after market and struggled with emissions, eventual sourced a bosal one and that did the trick.

Re: May 23rd Virtual Mini Meet

A couple of outstanding jobs I want to do on my 480. Get the fog lamps back on, one mounting tab broke when removing the rotten bumper. The rear arch I did last year needs some filling and work to make it look better, I have managed to get a can of storm grey so should get it looking more passable. ...

Re: breaking LHD 2.0

I still have the tank and the pump which was in good order. I wont be able to get to the car easily as it is stored at a friends but anything urgently needed I will try. There is still a lot to recover, I had plans to removed the rear panels and cut down the front bulk head. I am really pushing it w...

Re: How to fix the speedometer cable connector

These posts might help you. The green plug is just the reverse light switch. Panic over it is wiring which is faulty. I followed my own old advice, 'go to bed and look at it in the morning'. Armed with the diagram I found the 2 wires, they are quite obvious in the loom being green and black in a sep...

Re: 1994 Volvo 480 Turbo Diary

Really amazing work, it is good to see people putting the time and effort in to the 480. I have had the welder out on my rear and it is really demoralising when every bit you touch with the torch is so this it melts away. Not sure I am impressed with the panels but at least they are available, hopef...

Re: First 480, first real project car

The do tend to drain a bit, I have my battery disconnected when laid up. Worth testing the battery though, fully charge it and leave disconnected for a few days and recheck the voltage. With your cut wires, I was looking at wiring diagrams and Grey/White is used (at the dashboard) for the door open ...
