Re: Right Door Window + qutr glass + side mirror

Have you costed from an auto glass place? might be cheaper than you think and they have contracts for shipping internationally.

Always worth asking, even just to give you a base price.

Re: Blinky 51/480

I havent been able to look at the car, I did have plans to work on it this weekend but work got in the way. I took this photo last week, you will see why I think the problem is rear spring related, hopefully I can get some time on it next weekend. https://serving.photos.photobox.com/007024109d312878...

All new other than the Spring cup and gaiter. Springs are Munro SP049. https://serving.photos.photobox.com/05887039ad90a7a3fbdf8dc3e8d8d1b6d438e947ac64e944700fea0bfddd70306a13db25.jpg https://serving.photos.photobox.com/765805133b5ef15895a8ad2bbe9bad1bedaac7406ade99845c99969a4e11afb353e05380.jpg htt...

Re: Blinky 51/480

Looks like I have found the problem. In the Haynes manual there is actually useful section on the ignition system. I followed it in a logical order. The coil is attached to the ignition module by two screws. When you remove it it exposes the terminals to measure the windings. one of these looked pre...

Re: Blinky 51/480

I am looking for a bit of help understanding the ignition module. The car has developed a little fault. It will start and run but the engine dies abruptly after a while and wont restart, I have done some probing and it is lack of spark. I was looking for a diagram but there isnt much out there. http...

Re: Stolen From Bristol - Volvo 480 ES

Sorry to see the photos of your car.

Your insurance should cover the recovery cost, it is a bit of a cash cow for them to milk insurance and contract work for the big breakdown companies.

If you aren't put off by a this hopefully you will be back behind the wheel of a 480 again.

Re: Rear sills disappearing due to rust

Recent experience, If you hit it with a wire brush it will be worse.
The thick rubber underseal hides alot. Rust comes from the inside.

You can see the inside if the arches if you take the boot trim off.

Re: Novice 480s

If you are just wanting a speedo and not bothered about the odometer you could use a gps unit.

I have had one in my Landover for a few years and it is pretty decent.

Re: Novice 480s

I wonder if it got broken by someone chasing the fault, I was going to remove mine but thankfully due to the horror stories left it and found the wire was faulty in several places. If you cant source one it might be possible to go alternative. Some of the guys running SD1 Rover have the same problem...

Re: Gas springs for the rear window

A word of caution. I have 1 strut on the hatch the same size as the originals which came from a rover 216 coupe. Holds the glass great but I recently noticed that when closed it pushes the glass out of line giving a small gap at the rear lamp. For the hatch and lamps have a look at the body of the s...
