Re: May 23rd Virtual Mini Meet
Many thanks Sylvia and Alan. I know a lot of effort went into that. Andrew All Sylvia's work Andrew. She's the organiser where 480s are involved. I just drive them......eagerly.     Thanks for the comment. Hope to see you in the near future, when the Chinese plague ha...

Re: May 23rd Virtual Mini Meet
I think Andrew is talking about the McPherson strut top mount and how it attaches to the body via the two fixing holes. He's right, some are studs and nuts, and some are bolts. Good spot. Didn't know there was a difference... Sylvia; Re. your "Turnip" conundrum... I would call the 480 "School Repor...

Re: May 23rd Virtual Mini Meet
Is your TVR a Griffiths with the 4.7/5 Its an early 'pre-cat' 4.0... makes the 480 feel well built  Actually, we have a dust-storm - it's blue skies and sunshine but very windy and the farmer's recently ploughed his field of light sandy soil. Friday I drove cross country from Wisbech to Littl...

Sylvia's blue 480 ES is nearly ready and looks fabulous. Final paint work and then, on the road, after almost 2 miserable years off the road. SNAZZY, rises from the ashes......................hooray. Never have I seen Paris Blue look so deep in colour as per that paintshop sneak preview... looked g...

Re: May 23rd Virtual Mini Meet
I think I am a Man of Kent Andrew. Lots of debate now on what is a Kentish man or Man of Kent. I thought it was if you were born North or South of the river Medway other people think it is East or West Kent, some people used to think it was to do with wealth or hierarchy in the town. I used to thin...

Re: 480 turbo boost loss
Thanks Robou. I have investigated and there is a place where it splits, one line, from the plating grommet, splitting to the turbo gauge and one pipe to the Robou ECU. I have replaced some old braided rubber pipes for new rubber ones. Hopefully this will slow down the boost drop. I have seen a pipe ...

480 turbo boost loss
Hi all Suddenly, after driving really well, I can hear a massive boost leak from the right hand side of the dashboard, just above the dash vent for the driver's window. I suspect that a hose or pipe has let go. Has anyone had this symptom before? I do not know the routing of the pressure pipes. The ...

Re: Window problems
Thanks Glasgow Jim We were up your way last week. The auxiliary water pump doesn't work. I have checked the fuse and it is ok. I presume it is the No 19 in the fuse box. Just to be sure, is the water pump, the starter motor looking device, under the servo dome. Are there any other hidden bits I need...

Re: Window problems
Thanks to David and Balto8 David, I have dismantled the driver's window mechanism and it is broken. I have the passenger's side but not the driver's side mechanism. Need to hunt for one. Seems straightforward to fix. Balto8 That is excellent info. I was not looking forward to that job at all. I neve...

Re: Turbo cooling
Thanks James Good info., I thought it cooled the turbo, because it sounded like it came from around the turbo area. I was told, incorrectly, that it cooled the turbo. Yes, this is going to be a massive job James. Window motors, sunroof motor and or cables or whatever makes it operate. The motor oper...

Turbo cooling
Hi,
Have just acquired a white 480 turbo '92 in poor body state, been left off the road for 9 yrs and only done 65k. The turbo cooling unit doesn't appear to be operating. My other turbo cooling unit whines for a while, presumably pumping water around. Any ideas???
Cheers

Window problems
Hi, Have just acquired a white turbo '92 in poor body state, been left off the road for 9 yrs and only done 65k. The window motors seem to work but are detached from the windows. The sunroof does the same. I suspect the sunroof is a bit of a nuisance to fix, as it requires the headlining to be remov...

Re: Turbo meter wont' go pass halfway.
Ok, here's the way it is. The turbo gauge indicates the exact same position in 1-5 gears using the standard ECU as it does with the Robou mod. This is totally illogical. Robou said there is nothing wrong with his mod. I received it back a few days ago from him after he had checked it out. This means...
