Re: Guinness world record attempt......

Got home from Bruntingthorpe at 12:30. Car started misfiring on the A15, near Lincoln, and came to a final halt just outside Scampton at 19:15. RAC had no mechanics available (well; it was Sunday evening) so it was a lorry-lift the rest of the way home. It was that sort of day, really. Hoping to get...

Goody, goody!
I'll be there and, hopefully, will last longer than last year.
Looking forward to meeting you all again.

Re: How to mount a towbar...

Greetings James,
thanks for the info.
However,. got things to do before I reach the installation of a tow-bar.
And it won't be until it gets a lot warmer! My garage is colder than my fridge.

Re: Battery Charging

jifflemon,
three good questions.
How old is the battery? Don't know.
How often is the car used? Every two/three days.
What sort of journeys do I do? No more than ten (10) miles.
I'll just keep removing/charging/re-fitting after & before every trip.

Re: No Fuel Gauge

Update.
Replacement Info-centre supplied by Sylvia - many thanks Sylvia.
The cold weather meant it took a couple of days to install it.
Now it is installed and working I'm in info-overload - bags of lights and stuff. I love it!
Thanks for advice and info.

Re: Battery Charging

Update.
Found single-wire connector wasn't (connected).
Using all my knowledge of electrical circuits; I re-connected it and all is now good.
However, I think I need a new battery.
Thanks for all the info.

Thanks for the info, gentlemen.
Will check the system tomorrow - snooker to-day.

Battery Charging

The charging gauge in the dash of my 480 registers in, or very near to, the red sector, all the time the engine is running.
This is, I believe, not how it should be.
Can't find any info in the forum so it's a case of 'please, has anybody got any info/ideas?'.
Many thanks.

Re: Breaking last bits before scrapping

Forgot to add:
battery holding bracket. The fixed one mounted at the outboard side of the battery.
For some reason, it's missing from my car.

Re: Breaking last bits before scrapping

Lens covers from both DRL would be welcome. Also, how about a R/H driving lamp - the one next to the DRL. I'll take both L/H & R/H, if you'd rather sell the pair. And the rear fog-light could be put to good use. Availability and price inc postage, please. Or, I could pick up, if you're not too far f...

Re: 3d printed spare and repair parts

Greetings Jonas, I understand that your time is rationed and you've got other things to do. I was just wondering if somebody could take up (had taken up) the baton and could help. Thanks for the work you've already done and, if you do manage to get the DRL lens covers developed, you can be assured a...

Re: 3d printed spare and repair parts

Greetings Everybody, bit lost about who's doing what with 3D printed items. I could use the following 3D printed items: 2x repair kit for window operating mechanisms, 1x L/H & 1x R/H DRL lens covers - I like the look of the ones Optovox77 is developing. 6x door trim clips (the round ones). Can anyon...

Thanks Brinkie.
I'll leave the next info-centre R & R for a couple of days - but I'll check the fuse this afternoon.

Re: No Fuel Gauge

Apologies Jaster for not replying to your post earlier - not been near the car for a few days. Used the soldering-iron on all the pins, cleaned bulb connections then re-installed info-centre cluster - info-centre still didn't work. Oh, and now the L/H indicator light doesn't work even with a new bul...

Re: No Fuel Gauge

Apologies Jaster for not answering your post. I thought I had but it seems my reply got lost somewhere in the electronics. As I've said before 'me and electronics don't mix'. 'Continuity' in my case meant setting a multi-meter to the lowest ohms range, connecting the probes of a multi-meter to the e...

Re: No Fuel Gauge

Been away for a few days and out of touch. Thanks for the offer, Brinkie; I'll be contacting you when I'm in a better position. Now, on with the story. Following the 'How To', the info-centre was removed, cleaned and continuity of all connections was checked, then it was re-installed - no joy. Repea...

Re: No Fuel Gauge

Once again, thank you gentlemen. However, removing the dash and tinkering with electronics - not my thing. Fingers like bananas and a work history which includes rivet guns and spanners but no electrics and, certainly, no electronics. I was hoping for something like “remove fuse X, spit on it, turn ...

No Fuel Gauge

The info centre in my turbo 48'0 doesn't work: hasn't since I got the car. I could read the fuel gauge by moving my head around, changing the viewing angle, until the light fell on the gauge and the bars were visible. However, even that's gone - there are no bars to view. I can manage without the fu...
