Re: Green GT in West Norwich

I know! How rude! Next time I see him I'll let his tyres down :D Thought they'd be on the forum. There are obviously more out there than I realised.

Green GT in West Norwich

I'd just left my local garage after a successful MOT and I'd been chatting to the mechanic about another 480 that visits his garage around once a year. I got home to put mine in my garage and lo and behold there was a green GT parked 100 yds from my house! Could it be the same one the guy at t...

Re: Final details for Mini Meet Saturday 7th October

Wow! Looking fantastic! Some great pictures there, I need to make the next one, I was sooooo close to jumping in the turbo on Sat morning to join in but I just couldn't justify the time. Hope you all enjoyed it. I did take her out for a consolatory trip to Aldi to cheers myself up though, although n...

Re: Final details for Mini Meet Saturday 7th October

Gutted I can't make this, it would be great to meet a few people and see your fine machines. It's a little too far for me from Norwich as I never get more than a couple of hours free at weekends. Enjoy, I look forward to seeing some glorious pictures! Swanny.

Re: Anti roll bar link URGENT

Also, might sound obvious to some but don't try and jack the car one side at a time or you will put torsion on the ARB and will have a tough job getting the bolts out but an even worse job getting them back in. I did this a couple of years ago and noticed the bolts were too long for the space availa...

Re: Oil in clutch???

Well it's been a bit oily since I bought it, but the oil has never made it to the garage floor so I took that as it not being a catastrophic leak. My the look of the engine bay the car wasn't too well looked after for a good while and I don't get a great deal of time to clean up in there but at leas...

Re: Oil in clutch???

So is the hole supposed to be open? Seems crazy having the clutch exposed like that. I'll be honest, it's got multiple oil leaks and they seem to coming from everywhere, I just accepted that it's going to leak and that's that, maybe I need to look into sorting the leakage, just struggle to find the ...

Re: Oil in clutch???

Rather than starting a new post I'll tag it on to this one - I've taken a look at the clutch and I can see the clutch plate through the top of the gearbox casing (a small rectangular hole about 30 x10mm). One of my friends informs me that there should be a plug in here; can anyone help me out with w...

Oil in clutch???

Hello, I'll apologise in advance if this has been covered somewhere but I can't find it covered anywhere and I don't have the time to trawl hundreds of threads. Basically, the clutch in my turbo has been slipping under boost in 3rd (thanks to Robou mod :D ) so I figured the clutch was on its way out...

Re: broken windscreen - available??

I had mine done for the first time a few months ago, the only advice I would give is to check and double chck with the windscreen fitting company that their fitters are happy to fit the screen single-handedly. I booked the day off, cleared the driveway and rolled out the car only to be told by the f...

Re: Urgent need for windscreen top seal

In conclusion to this thread, like Alan 480 said, the 'seal' isn't a seal and came out no problem. It's in one piece so no dramas... apart from the fact that the car is still sat in my garage needing primed and new screen fitted. I removed the rust, applied rust converter and filler and masked the b...

Re: Urgent need for windscreen top seal

Cheers Suddy, I'm hoping the guy has no problems removing the strip, but he said he's done a few in the past and the seals usually fall apart. I'm panicking that I'm going to be left with a windscreen with no seal. I might have a go at removing it myself on your recommendation. My God these cars are...

Urgent need for windscreen top seal

Hello all, I have a huge crack runing right through driver's side of my windscreen (original) so I thought I 'd get it replaced at the weekend as the MOT has now expired and I'd like to put it through it again. The insurance company's selected screen replacement guy turned up and almost laughed that...

I take my pride and joy home to Carilisle when I'm feeling uber brave but I doubt that will be happening for a while. Only seen one so far and that was in Norwich, getting rarer than rocking horse s**t! :D

Throttle body electrical plug

Sooooo, I was changing my alternator and cleaning out the throttle body on my Turbo (B18FT) yesterday and I noticed that the 6 pin electrical plug to the throttle body was not there (!) :wall: and sure as hell it was just hanging below. I thought that maybe I'd knocked it loose but I doubt this very...

Re: B18ft start and idle problems

So how did you fix it? Did you have to reset the system? It sounds similar to mine, If I 'blip' the throttle and then stamp on the pedal as the revs drop (in neutral) it stutters quite badly, worse when very cold or very hot. I think this due to the revs dropping off too far, I don't know why this h...

Re: Gold at Longwater Norwich

Jesus! It seems Norfolk 480s are common as muck, so I might get rid of mine since it isn't as rare as I thought it was  My Turbo is back on the road so awaiting a 'spotted' mention, since I'm driving it at any given opportunity (when I'm not underneath it). Keep up the good work, I'll keep an e...

Untraceable parasitic current draw

Hi all, So my Turbo's been cooped up in the garage for the winter and I decided to take it out for a spin yesterday after re-insuring it, but it wouldn't start - completely dead battery. I've been starting it and running the engine for 15 mins every few weeks and it's always started first time. I ju...

Hi Mico, Good choice, you certainly have good taste! In my experience of owning and reading this forum, if you invest in one you will be constantly replacing parts, fault finding, complaining etc. but I've not come across anything really expensive (yet, fingers and toes crossed) and you can guarante...

Re: Asfalt - Swedish Motoring Programme - 480 Episode!!

This made me smile, I feel a lot cooler now. There should be more motor mag specials on the 480. I can vouch for the "developed at Lotus" claim, I worked with some older guys there who remember it well, especially how it bent in the middle when they got it on a ramp
