At last i am able to update you all and many thanks for all your replies I managed to purchase a set of linkage bushes via EBAY foe £10.99 and these were for the Volvo S40 and V40 models which it seems used the same set up as the 480. These were fitted and indeed greatly improved the gear change fee...

Understandable but as mine was not working at all i felt 40 euros was better than a fixed penalty !!!

Dorset Police are hot on motorist and will stop you for any small infringement

can you help me with the n/s DRL bulb holder & connector with say 6" of wiring so i can do a easy join to the excisting wiring

Hi Managed to get the car to my usual garage and Steve confirmed the mega fuse was ok, so tested the alternator for output and it was zero Contacted the suplier and was advised to purchase another unit and return the original to them for testing and refund if found faulty ( yet to recieve the refund...

Ran out of battery again this AM but i have been carrying a spare battery in the boot so changed at side of road during rush hour and got going again
