Re: 1991 480 ES "Williams" 2.0 16v conversion!

Gather round kids and grab your popcorn for a story of 'not high enough oil pressure' based woe! SO. after spending £50 on some fancy drill bits to remove the 16/21 remaining buggered torx bits bolding the sump on (for anyone interested Milwaukee's new shockwave impact drill bits are fantastic) I wa...

Re: Wanted - under bonnet rubber seals & other things

Thanks again all. Right.... If Jeff wanted the gauges for stock and a worthwhile sounding project, and Alan doesn't want the gauges in Nora, then the simplest seems to be if I take Alan up on his offer of returning them to me. They were my last spare set and yes, I did leave the storage cubby (or "...

Re: Wanted - under bonnet rubber seals & other things

Hi Folks, I - think - I have about 3 sets of mudflaps.... in mostly good condition but with their mounting tabs in varying condition and probably requiring a little engineering when fixing I do have a full set of all door mouldings off a GT, would need to check the condition, however - can't remembe...

Re: 1991 480 ES "Williams" 2.0 16v conversion!

New oil pump arrived today! the new pump comes with an uprated governer spring to increase the oil pressure, at the moment as I have fitted a Mocal 13 row oil cooler rad out the front of the coolant rad the increased oil capacity had an adverse effect on oil pressure, the OEM gauge on idle reads jus...

Shame it didn't just pop on! I was sure the car it came off of had a standard CAT up front, but was maybe a 'home brew' CAT arrangement... my mistake, but at least its on!

Looking forward to hearing it!

Re: 2005 Lincolnshire Meet Photos.

O dear, VFC is actually an S despite the colour. We have just established that dcwalker's Nilani sits very neatly in the expected position on the Celebration register - he's pleased she isn't another oddity, and I'm pleased to have another snippet of information. win-win on that one Those are defin...

Not much of an update! but heads off - now away to get a strip, clean skim and re-assembly with new seals before back on with an MLS headgasket! Next job once my new drill bits get here, drill the head off of 90% of the torx sump bolts because some absolute chocolate decided they'd put the sump on w...

unfortunately most of the mechanical improvements will be reliability based not power based! BUT hoping to spend some time on making the engine bay itself a nicer tidier place to look at with moving some cabling and plumbing about!

Re: 1991 480 ES "Williams" 2.0 16v conversion!

A wee update on the 'Williams' 480! Dug it out the garage at home the other week so that over winter I can set too with some repairs/improvements and tweaks to amend some teething issues that arose after the engine conversion! It's sat in the garage for over 12 months so safe to say I'm looking forw...

Re: '94 2.0 ES - Very nice one up for sale

In fairness, those tyres are only circa £10 a corner cheaper than the likes of a Uniroyal or equivalent (regardless of if the tyres are the wrong size) At the money its at when you compare it to ~most~ 480s that come up for sale around the £1000-1200 mark these cars tend to be up the length of 100k ...

Re: High torque clutch for late Turbo's + pics

i think the best experiment would be to buy a very cheap clutch and try it onto a 480 flywheel - i'm unsure! or speak VERY nicely to your local parts supplier and they might let you try it for fit I have spare flywheel here if you don't want to strip an engine  or it could be measured with th...

Re: High torque clutch for late Turbo's + pics

Based on this post I'm led to believe that the Helix upgraded clutch (Helix 30-4203) for the Renault Clio II would work for our little 480 Turbo wedge. Has anyone looked into this or tried it? https://www.demon-tweeks.com/us/helix-sporting-uprated-clutch-kit-organic-hlx30-4203/ I think you are righ...
