Does anyone know if these are still available? My heater knobs are suffering from the usual deterioration.
Had them from Ebay before, but would go to a Volvo dealer if that was a cheaper option (that would be a first!)

White 480S Penrith
M plate white 'S' on the A66 / M6 up at Penrith today. Very nice order from what I could see, including towbar and nonstandard wheels (alloys, when S models had steel wheels I think). Managed to pop the lights up and wave before it hared off down the M6 at a rate of knots. Male driver, single occupa...

Adjusting Idle speed
Had a look around the forums and found a lot of quite techie information, but nothing that gave me any clear insight into how to adjust the tickover / idle speed on a 1721cc 480s. At the moment the car ticks over fine when cold, but on warming to normal running temp, it refuses to drop below 1300 rp...

Re: Auxilary Pump Run on..
Thanks for the pics - very informative and helpful. its a 1994 and 1721cc. I wonder if it is an electrical issue, as I have changed the pump (admittedly for a similarly scruffy one), with no difference to the problem. Presuming the pump is functioning correctly from a mechanical perspective, might i...

Droopy Head Lining
Darn it, but my new acquisition (1994 480 S) is letting her hair down a bit and her head lining is drooping at the back of the car.
How do I go about fixing it back up? Is it a straightforward task, or should I abandon hope?

Re: Auxilary Pump Run on..
Thanks James, but I'm prety sure that it shouldn't be working after the ignition is switched off :) I've never come across this problem with any other of the 480s I've had, and this is my 4th.. I say problem, but I guess it doesn't need to be, as it doesn't seem to consume much power, just makes an ...

Ha Ha, wil do - but before I do, I wonder if you can point me at the unit 'behind the grille'? I had a good look earlier on, but I'm blowed if I could see the offending item...

Auxilary Pump Run on..
Odd one this - after the car is switched off, having reached normal operating temperature, the auxiliary pump kicks in for up to 10 minutes, presumably circulating water around the engine. The fan doesn't kick in at the same time, but is working normally when the car is running. I have replaced the ...

Outside Temp Sensor Problem
I've got the old girl out of the garage and back onto the road again (she's been laid up for a few months) but something has gone wrong with the outside temperature sensor. http://s1333.photobucket.com/user/mmcare00/media/2013-10-10195033_zps580b8525.jpg.html Since I live in Lancashire, and not the ...

Re: Tow Bar !
My experience has been no, there is no override - the trailer lights represent an additional feed from the existing circuit and your car lights must still be able to function in the event of a failure at the trailer end. I'd be interested in others' views though, as I'm about to fit a towbar and ele...

Agreed Valuation / Mileage Insurance?
I've acquired another 480 and am looking to insure it as a second car, with annual mileage of say 4000 and agreed valuation of £600. Can anyone recommend a good insurer who doesn't charge a fortune? Any pointers would be appreciated - I've used Lancaster in the past, and had a premium around ...

Re: Leaking Gearbox Oil Seal
I guess what I'm asking is, whether the oil seal on the gearbox is something that can be changed relatively easily, or if it is another £bottomless pit to pour money into? Anyone done this job?
Cheers!

Leaking Gearbox Oil Seal
Got the car back from MOT, with an advisory of 'Gearbox oil leak o/s/f inner gaitor seal' In a short chat with friendly mechanic, I was told that this was a 'design fault' of these renault engines, it would continue to deteriorate and will eventually fail, and that there was nothing could be done. I...

Re: Tow Bar !
Well i cant speak for everyone but mine went through a grommet on the back of the bit where the spare wheel sits in. Yes, that is my recollection too, from the two I have had fitted to 2 of the 3 480s I've had (so far!). The grommet can be a bit temperamental too, once disturbed, although the upsid...
