Re: Welcome Seymour

Always enjoy reading Seymour updates and a cassette holder is a massive thumbs up !

Was there a choice of cassette holders as I remember one with an LCD for outside temp.... even though the Info Centre has an outside temp (?) - or am I getting confused with something else? :bla:

Re: Ignition coli references, equivalents B18FT 1991

That coil did make a difference. Not a big one, but it did. Now I have to crank for 2 secs before it comes to life, and it doesn't stall. Will report further though. Thanks you all ! Glad a stock Bosch item made a difference. 2 seconds about normal for a Turbo I think. Every time I start mine there...

Re: LED headlamps

As usual, great write up and the identification of no doubt a great product in a sea of Chinese cr4p. The MoT thing... :boom: I could argue that it is a replacement unit, not bulb. I think it would take quite a naïve MoT tester to accept that, given it has a chuffing great H4 on the glass... https:/...

Hi GSA Removal, hot water, gentle "massaging" and compressed air! Does mean nose cone off i'm afraid to get to the rad connection. http://www.jaykayem.co.uk/photos/480/update12/rad4.jpg I would also recommend a full cooling system service if the coolant has been of such poor quality to be blocking h...

Depends how high you want to set your bar...

Just keeping them going from a collection of donors doesn't seem crazy to me.

Spending £15,000 on something worth 5, shipping parts around the world? Yeah, utterly bonkers :bla:

Bonkers is to be celebrated though...

Re: Ignition coli references, equivalents B18FT 1991

Is the 480 coil 12 or 14V? A 12v coil is a turn of phrase - they will have an operating window just like a 12v bulb...... 10 to 14.7v usually. "In the old days" you used to get 9v coils for a 12v car and they ran with a ballast resistor. Normal operation they run through the resistor, but upon cran...

Re: Ignition coli references, equivalents B18FT 1991

My 1994 Turbo coil is stamped 0 221 600 066 https://i.postimg.cc/kXQqMJS2/coil.jpg Both the Bosch catalogue and the Volvo parts book has the coil and ignition module combined "as one" under that part number. (13) https://i.postimg.cc/sg3yvkPw/coila.jpg That makes it extremely hard to cross reference...

Re: Ignition coli references, equivalents B18FT 1991

Has the old coil still got its Bosch sticker and part number?

Autodoc has an incredible search function if you can find the above.

I don’t think the coil is that special… will anything 12v do just to temporarily prove / disprove your theory?

Great work! Sometimes the garage has to overspill into the house... some people don't understand... the other half for example! Spat my tea out when I saw three-spokes but i'm actually reminiscing about them now. We had a magazine in the UK called "Max Power" and it aligned perfectly with me ...

Re: Oil leak

The torque of the bolts has little to no effect on the seal clamping force as the O-ring lives in a bore. I say O-ring... if its 30 years old it will be a rock solid D-ring! If you still have an oil leak, don't disregard this as the source because its been nipped up. Its a 10p O-ring... get it swapp...

Hi Roy, Looking good. Can I just ask - has it had that plate from new? Also, eBay is full of NGK ZGR5B so your specialist didn't look too hard. Even with specialists, you have to invest the ground work yourself because it isn't worth their time to search.... and you can understand that to a certain ...

Hi Northbridge, Copied & pasted are my experiences with Volvo 3430436... 'Valve 3' - Turbo Diverter Valve - Volvo 3430436 [/u] A solution for Bosch 0280142102 is no problem. You can trace this valve (and Bosch part number) all the way back to the Ferrari F40 (1987), through 1990 Porsche 944 Turbo, e...

Re: Spotted Alconbury : Black J-plate

this one by any chance? Oh dear :( Well, as suspected, that's CAT-B now. What could be a perfectly serviceable 480 is now "terminated" following a paperwork exercise. In which case, £2800 doesn't make sense - and I can't see a big queue forming for export (being RHD). I suspect its another one to b...

I ended up deleting that "flooded" post, just so I could repost when I got word from the insurance company. They just happen to tell me its a total loss and will be scrapped. Yeah that was the basis of my reply. Don't get the insurance company involved in any way, shape, or form it said. Most of th...

Would appreciate advice on whether preserving her is worth it for the long run. Well, it certainly doesn't make any financial sense. 2023 and values are still a country mile off P1800ES with no signs of ever getting close. There has to be a bit of heart over head. You do get quite an exclusive car ...

Yep i'm with you Alan, nothing fancy Dexron-III.

Unlike transmissions where they may be sensitive to types, I think any old red ATF will do for PAS.

Grade "F" dates back to the 90's, so 30+ years entirely possible if its been stored OK.

Good luck, its a messy old job.
