Re: Considering getting a 480 as my main car

This advice is for all 30+ year old classics. Parts are drying up and in some cases require extended effort to hunt down. I run a Mk2 Golf as my daily and its fine until something goes wrong. It may need a week or two parked up whilst I source the parts and that's fine because I have other cars to f...

EBW Celebration Spotted!

Yep, another real-world spot of which I'm quite proud! It was the "EBW" Celebration recently for sale... https://i.postimg.cc/vHvK7q05/ebw.jpg Spotted at the B660 Holme Road junction near Ratcliffe's Recovery, Conington, Cambridgeshire. About 10 miles south of Peterborough. It's the one that starred...

Re: My 480s so far!

Interesting wheel and I quite like them. Bit of 70's Renault about them which is a nice nod to 480 history.

Also remind me of the BMW M1.

Let us know what you decide with the exhaust. Everything involving a trade these days just so expensive.

Great update and top marks for the badge efforts.

The importance of the "i" can not be understated. Reminds me of the period documentary "A to B : Tales of Modern Motoring". Well worth a watch.

Keep up the good work.

I will do everything I can to attend this.

A fitting conclusion to what seems a never ending story.

In the diary already. Not wishing time away, but bring it on!

Re: G600DPJ 480 Turbo

Fuel pump and starter are two separate systems, so if both are not doing their thing, then it's the control over those parts and not the parts themselves.

Ignition switch cranking position OK?

Auto box starter inhibitor thinking its in D/R still?

Re: 95 2.0 Celebration - Failing emissions test UK

If we just concentrate on the natural idle, then 6.14% CO is sky high. It's running far too rich. A non-cat car of that vintage should only be 1-2% (give or take) so the Cat isn't at fault, because it's too high even before treatment. In that state, I wouldn't bother fitting the new cat until the mi...

Re: 480 Radiator Fan Switch

Go to Autodoc... enter car details... go to cooling... then fan switch. There are loads of good pictures including connector design, thread type and temperature ranges etc. Compare with your old one. Even if "out of stock" (common), Autodoc reveals aftermarket part numbers so you can go hunting else...

What a great and varied selection there. The W8 fascinates me greatly and is just "peak Piëch". Don't think it was used in anything other than a Passat... all that development work for 200 UK sales? Bonkers. Something wrong with that RS200... the clamshell opens the wrong way... and it's an 02 plate...

M108MSH?

Scrap Marker = True
Date of scrap marker = 9/2/24

I note the "dark blue" (sic) celeb EBW is on C&C.

New coat hooks (that look OE) and rear washer jets would be my top pleads to the amazing 3D printing community.

Coat hooks are now available! (At least the delicate rubber covers for them are, assuming that’s what you’re after?)

Ria Gerritse sells them on Facebook.

Re: 1994 Volvo 480 Turbo Diary - Update May 2024

Is there a need? Are they just plastic? Probably not enough demand to warrant the 3D printing route. The clips are fine until you require door handle removal. You have to defeat the wedge by deflecting it - and snapping the wedge in the process. Without disturbance they are totally reliable. Door h...

Hi Will; yes it was your good self re. mudflaps and your struggle ! Well done on your perseverance. I respectfully disagree re. the towing eyes. Sunroofs "back in the day" were seen as quite a novel and luxury item. Many are non-factory from a huge range of brands... Webasto... Britax.. etc. Accessory shops, dealers and bodyshops considered them an ideal up-sell back in the day. When I was a child a large branch fell on the roof of our famil...
