Re: b20F auxillary tensioner and pulley
Do you mean the timing belt idler and tensioner pullies? There is no tensioner pulley for the auxiliary belts - on a 2.0i with air-conditioning, adjusting the position of the PAS pump tensions the larger belt, and adjusting the alternator the small one. If you do mean the timing belt there are plent...

Re: Celebration #467 “Nilani” for sale
Adam Looking at your list of things Nilani needs to get her sorted (leaving aside the rear arches  ) which of these do you need? I can help you with drl bulb holder, door panel clips, radiator switch and probably the mirror housing. When you say "cluster", as Sylvia has asked you, what do you ...

Re: Celebration #467 “Nilani” for sale
Hi Adam
We're already discussing this one as she is an ex-car of mine. As I've said, I really don't think I can help provide a home, much as I'd like to - space and funds being the issue.
As Jeff says you'd get more interest with an MOT. What are the prospects of you getting one?

Re: Tyre pressure and weight rating plate
Standard is front 30, rear 27; full load is front 33, rear 30.
I run 33 and 31, but that's just my preference.....

Re: Tyre pressure and weight rating plate
Slightly confused as to what you're after, Roy: on a 400 series Volvo the tyre pressure sticker is on the back edge of the door, just below the lock. Weights are on the slam panel plate under the bonnet. They don't have the same stickers as later models had in various places on the B pillar itself....

Re: Undertray
Should a 480 turbo have an engine under tray? If so, I need one. Any about for sale? Every 480 should have one! Many have been lost over the years, several will have been quite early on as garages couldn't be bothered to replace them when removed for servicing etc. Sorry though, Roy - I can't help ...

Re: Any suggestions?
If it helps as guidance, a classic policy with no agreed value (it'll have that when it's ready but it's not there yet) through Lancaster Insurance for my 460 costs me about £80pa. Just social and domestic but having no NCB on that as a second policy is neither here nor there. My 480GT is insured th...

Re: Headlight brackets
It is correct that Volvo intended them as a sacrificial part, but it was a safety design in the event of collision with pedestrians. So probably not a good idea to use aluminium. Absolutely right. They're a pain when they break but just think of the damage a pop-up light could do to a person if it ...

Re: Late Bumper Stripes?
As far as I know, once the red stripe was discontinued the black cars had no stripe. Presumably satin black on metallic black was not a desirable look? 323 is storm grey metallic, not actually black. As the previous owner of Pudsey/Pud/R2, though, I do know that she has no satin black stripe either....

Re: Headlight and long range driving lamp flash
Hi Roy Ah, thanks - I think I've got the full picture now! Right, if the lights are coming on with full beam with headlights up, then clearly the bulbs, connections and the dashboard switch are all ok. If you put sidelights on with the engine off, the headlights will come up but they will not be lit...

Re: Headlight and long range driving lamp flash
Pop-up might just be a lazy motor - could be worth giving the brinkie-winkie dance a try... Auxiliary lights should flash when the headlights are down, which is a CEM function. That happens regardless of the dashboard switch position. When the headlights are up (which is also a CEM function) the aux...
