Re: My 22k 480 ES for sale :-(

Really sorry to hear your bad news; for what it's worth let me say that I think you are doing the right thing in making your family's needs your priority. As Ben says, this community will doubtless do all it can to offer you its support. In terms of selling your car, it is always slightly difficult ...

Re: 480 ES For Sale in Essex

Sorry to hear you're leaving with respect to the 480, but I understand your reasoning. Also very pleased to see you aim to stick around with your 440 - suddenly being a 440 owner as well as a 480 owner on here doesn't feel so lonely! Based on everything you've told us so far I think that's a v...

Hey, I like that!!

Remember that, in a nutshell, Volvo were aiming the 480 at Yuppies - so the Pierre Cardin pen would have completely looked the part

Re: Is this Petrol Blue?

I'm with Edie on this - the car in the picture in your first post, Ben, has 1991 onwards door mirrors.

Given the black bumpers I'd say it is a Paris Blue 480S.

Re: 480 dash

I would imagine that as you inserted the new fuse you hesitated slightly but close enough for the current to jump - hence the spark. We all do it, don't get me wrong, but it just confirms why strictly you should disconnect the battery before playing with anything electrical, even fuses! What year is...

Re: 1994 480 S on eBay

I’m really sorry to say this but a year or two ago you would be hard pressed to sell a good 480 for £800 some times. You have unfortunately entered our world when prices have been inflated artificially by shark car dealers. Again I’m sorry, but my opinion is that it is basically worth a few hundred...

Re: "Volvo 480 Bows Out With Dignity", Autocar magazine 19th July 1995

Perhaps that's where it ended up when the handbrake failed... ;) Hammersmith Bridge (I think) in that one; Tower Bridge in the other one shown on this thread (which is in one of the brochures as well). So yes, there was a thing about London bridges it seems. Did anyone else notice the top of HMY Bri...

Re: "Volvo 480 Bows Out With Dignity", Autocar magazine 19th July 1995

I'd largely agree with you, Jay.

I do think it's important to remember thought that what Volvo had I mind all along was a sports tourer - what used to be categorised as a "GT" - the 480 was never intended as an out and out sports car.

Just like the P1800 before it.

Re: "Volvo 480 Bows Out With Dignity", Autocar magazine 19th July 1995

I remember that article when it came out and I still have a paper copy! On the one hand it was quite complimentary, but on the other hand the journalist hadn't done his homework or driven the car. No, there weren't 6 colours for the Celebration, just 3 (burgundy red metallic, storm grey metallic, an...

Re: GT in Bolton

Hmmm...saveable but those rear arches look pretty well gone. It's a GT so by definition that makes it rare (although between us we do seem to have quite a few of them still ). I think a lot would depend on how good the interior still is, because sourcing a replacement GT interior would be hard ...

Re: Possible sale of Celebration 467

Martin Have a close look at the passenger side nozzle...I think it was on Nilani that I broke a nozzle and was able to use a very small screw to re-fix the upright part to the base. There is quite a bit of thick plastic to play with and you may be able to do the same - just depends exactly where the...
