Re: Low mileage Celebration for sale

You Jeff? Cynical? ;) No, all fair comment - and I didn't mention the tyres because I did so before, but I'd definitely want those changed at no extra cost. I think in fairness it would be difficult to hold out on the common faults - they aren't going to find perfect a dashboard or weather-strips to...

Re: Low mileage Celebration for sale

How many faults have people found so far? I've been through the KGF photos with a fine-toothed comb and must admit that I am struggling to find anything of significance. They comment themselves about the weather-seals, and I notice the usual crack is starting in the dashboard, but hey - find me a 4...

Re: Low mileage Celebration for sale

I agree; if on inspection it is as good as it looks in the photographs, and the history is all there and genuine, then it is well worth the price. Mind you, not so keen on the idea of it being on 24 year old tyres though - that's one aspect of originality that would need to be updated asap... Sadly,...

Re: Turbo on eBay

Very much so!

That's a lot of money for a car that doesn't even run...you could be taking on anything there...

I think even you might resist that one, Jeff

Re: My Old Turbo (L904 FCW)

I have to agree with the sentiments here, especially in the last two posts - go for it! I think in your heart you want to; it'd be a serious challenge but so, so, worth it if the car could regain her former glory (she looks lovely in the old photos :D ); and I know that if one of my old 480s turned ...

Have got some headlamp rubber seals if you need?

Consider them payback for the bolt
Thanks Jeff

Actually, they would be quite useful since I have now noticed that one of mine has condensation so replacing the seal is a good starting point... :D

I'll PM you...

Hi Fraser

Weird...

Still after the bits, yes - gauges sorted with Alan but other bits still sought!

I shall PM you again!

Re: Oil on speed sensor

Probably wouldn't have helped in this case, but in general I highly recommend the 'EE Toolkit' app if you have an i-device: https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/ee-toolkit/id391792609 It's a really great reference to have and among many other things has a fairly reasonable SigGen built-in. Thanks, but I'm...

Sorry Rachel, I tried to resist it but I just have to ask  - how on earth did it meet its end on top of a wall??

Re: Oil on speed sensor

Hello Alan Which 480 are we talking about, out of interest? I have just changed the cog on Nilani and also on Nigel's 480 for him - got mine through ebay from a chap in Hungary, and noted Nigel had done the same. Seem good quality (and working so far!). Can dig out the details if you'd like me to. G...

Re: Blinky 51/480

Further rambling thought - are these new springs generic for the 440/460/480? If so the ride height on the 440/460 was a tad higher... I will need to check when I can, but regardless of variations in original spring sizes across the 480 range, I am pretty sure they were in any event not the same as ...

Re: Blinky 51/480

Even allowing for compression with age, the new ones look significantly longer... Sorry if you have already said this somewhere, but what is the situation with your front springs? Are they the originals or replaced? I appreciate they are all part of the whole strut with the shock absorber so a diffe...

Great news to hear these cars are still around - and also great to see a real blast from the past in terms of the names suddenly popping up in this thread :D

Best wishes to all!!

Marc The T5 bulbs are the small wedge bulbs that light up: - the light switch/fog-light switch pack; - the heater controls (2) - the heated seat/long-range lights switch symbols - the ignition switch - the ashtray/cigarette lighter That accounts for 6, and Robert says there are 7 - I certainly don't...

You can test in the car: http://www.volvo-480-europe.org/volvo480/faq/faqitem.php?article=faq/30/cem/selfdiagnose James that is a VERY useful link :hopping: It is, but I think you'll find that on a post 91 car (which will have a CEM IIl ) the testing of the CEM, like everything else, is done via th...

Hear hear, this is great stuff to definitely be watched very closely! Both my sets of rear lights are pretty good at the moment but they won't stay like that forever...

Thank you 😊

Re: Wanted - under bonnet rubber seals & other things

Thanks again all. Right.... If Jeff wanted the gauges for stock and a worthwhile sounding project, and Alan doesn't want the gauges in Nora, then the simplest seems to be if I take Alan up on his offer of returning them to me. They were my last spare set and yes, I did leave the storage cubby (or "w...
