Re: Scotland Mobile Mini Meet August 17TH 2019

Aaarrgh - Al's not coming near driving (my) Lily if he rests his hand on the gear-knob; does the linkage no good at all! As for Willow - I know exactly what you mean about the fangs from our Martha, but we're not bringing her because she HATES being in a car and I'm not having her wailing her...

Re: Scotland Mobile Mini Meet August 17TH 2019

Willow will make the day! She'll not only be our mascot but, in true cat fashion, she will also be completely in charge of everyone :D Sylvia - that must present a real dilemma: which 480 will have the honour? James - really pleased to hear you are able to make it. Did the number plate holder arrive...

Despite having been driving 480s (and at their time 440s and 460s) since the early 1990s, believe it or not I have still never even driven a Turbo, let alone owned one...
Next meet we're at, we're going to fix that (the driving part, not the owning part!)

Re: Lily's transformation

I was lucky on the exhaust front; Lily came with a genuine full Volvo exhaust, fitted brand new in about 2010 - after that she entered her living in a barn days until I "rescued" her. Must have been one of the last available. The exhaust and boxed still had their lovely clean Volvo part stickers on ...

Re: turbo auto - eBay

Tell Lee's parents to move to Milton Keynes. That way you can take a look at a much better example that you could have for half the price! don't tempt me!! Despite having been driving 480s (and at their time 440s and 460s) since the early 1990s, believe it or not I have still never even drive...

Re: turbo auto - eBay

It's a lovely looking example.

We go down that way quite often since Lee's parents live nearby; if it's still there next time we go down I might take a look and report back... provided I can trust myself, of course

Re: Mud flaps

Like most things for the 480 genuine mudflaps are unobtainable unless you happen to chance on someone breaking a car with them fitted. Often removing them causes the metal strips on them (which will already be well rusted) to crumble away as well... 440/460 mudflaps were different - that said, I rem...

Re: 1990 Turbo Auto - Fox

Sad to read these latest posts - it's a lovely looking car and you paid a handsome price for it; you don't deserve these sorts of problems! I would echo what James has said. Damp gets into the connectors in the battery leads running across the front of the engine compartment very easily, and there a...

Re: WANTED: rear lamps covers

Will they fail a mot if there cracked and faded Depends how bad they are. If they are so badly faded that they no longer give sufficient light output, or that light output is the wrong colour, then they will fail. In really bad cases they can be virtually white and opaque, which won't meet the stan...

Thanks for the info, David.
Don't have any telephone numbers, I suppose?
Hutton Brothers is 01904 471607, Ray Chapman York (main dealer) is 01904 789789.
