Diff oil seal part number

Just a quick check

Diff oil seal part number 3342487.

It looks like it covers all models and is also listed for the S40, Is this the correct number for the 480 2ltr.

Thanks in advance

Re: Water coming in through driver window seals

I do not know if this is the same for the 480 but years ago I used to run a 5a Scimitar, being fibreglass they also love to leak. The Scimitar had a similar problem of water leaking through the door panel. When removing the door card I did not realise the plastic sheet was there to prevent water ing...

Rear light seal availability Y/N

Would you be able to advise if the remade rear light seals are still available and if so, do you have the contact information.

Mine are pretty good but one of them now struggles when it gets pressure washed.

Thanks in advance

Re: AA vs RAC breakdown recovery services

To be honest it's swings and roundabouts. I cover around 35k a year in a company car and as such my company will send whoever is closet. Both the AA and RAC have recovered two Fords who's gear levers failed at around 120K, Ford with a damaged clutch, Ford with a failed charging system (4 times in on...

Re: Bumber stripes

Agree wrapped is the way to go. Following a very poor repair completed by a local garage I dropped mine into Volvo, Hylton Gott at Downham Market, the request was to make it look like new. As you can guess a small repair escalated but I would 100% recommend their work. https://www.facebook.com/Hylto...

Re: Yellow Lights

To the best of my knowledge as long as they comply with and display the appropriate British standard they are legal in the UK white or yellow. It will be the beam alignment that could create a problem. If for example you were to use a LHD headlamp unit in the UK with the opposite dip on the beam tha...

Re: E10 Fuel

Thank you Brinkie for an excellent update. With limited use, as suspected it will be the phase separation that could potentially create problems. Your comment touching on the corrosive properties is also interesting. Fuel line and seal issues I assume will be an easy fix but only time will tell how ...

Re: E10 Fuel

sadly so, I guess at some point the leccy cars will also have to be taxed to make up for lost revenue from fuel tax (and VAT), road fund tax etc not quite how they'd divvy up the cost of electricity used to heat your home vs that used for transporation? PS If they have thought about it they are sh1...

Re: E10 Fuel

I agree I will also run E5 whilst available. MPG just meant that the consumption increased as in used more, I like to confuse. That problem was resolved by a 4.0 v8 swap. Better overall gearing improved the average to around 26mpg. though I am guessing that would not be the case if pushed. As for th...

E10 Fuel

Petrol in the UK will soon be watered down by the introduction of E10 fuel, no doubt the opportunity will also be taken to apply a "green" tax to everything else. Luckily it would appear the 480 will run E10 but I am just curious on the fuel consumption and storage issues, I know that when unleaded ...

Re: Engine won't start.......advice please

I would try to get the starter sorted and if then still no joy, tackle the non starting of the engine. When did the one rev per turn of key start, did it use to start OK prior to this. If the starter is on its last and drawing too much current it will fail to spin the engine as you have noted. As ha...

Red In Bury St Edmunds 27/2/18

Clean red 480 spotted in Bury St Edmunds, confirms some get used in the winter. Looked good despite the messy roads, mine travels a few hundred yards and gets plastered. I was delayed in traffic so had to take a conference call by the roadside, hence I wasn't in a 480 but explains why I was sitting ...

Re: Front speakers

These will work just fine ,with the four connections it will save you having to join the cables as they will just plug straight in. You have also noted the rear speakers only have two terminals, remember the second pair in the front are used to power the tweeters, there are no tweeters in the rear s...

Re: Front speakers

2 way speakers with the tweeters connected, yes fine. The other added bonus of two way is that with less items protruding in front of the speaker, there is more chance of the original grille fitting without modification to the panels. Fixing screws by keeping the speakers the same size as standard t...
