Re: Timing belt change 1994 2.0 B20F

When undoing teh front nut on the crankshaft b eprepared for it to be 'oh my goodness'. I used a wheel wrench type as it had a slide out extension and was six sided so giving a nice secure fit!! (actually had it modifed by teh welders at work so it was a right angle to give a better 'pull' and you w...

Re: Blinky 51/480

I used ALDI metal paint on the slls of the SS1 and various parts of 480 suspension at rear and seems to be pretty good, MUCH cheaper than Hmmerite and can get it in black, green & white, ideally black but I had a tin of green for garden furniture so green will be used :-)

Re: So, today was the day...

Was also a tad annoyed to discover that the brake disc dust shield is pressed on, rather than bolted on. Was hoping to blast and paint that along with the spring tops, but will have to attempt it in-situ  mine were pressed on by Volvo, fell off in my hands :-) made new from 1/16 ally plate and...

Re: So, today was the day...

for what it's worth I try and grab the edge of the spring pan as well, gives more of spring within the compressors . and I make a point of doing it in middle of garden pointing away from house window (even been known to tie the SS1 spring to something as they are double the poundage as 'inboard' wit...

Re: 1990 Turbo Auto - Fox

Funny, the info centre going haywire, that is what happens sometimes in my car, too. Either it displays everything, or it freezes (display stuck), or it remains blank. And it always comes back to life. Can't seem to find out why, because it never happens when I am testing the instrument cluster in ...

only one of the images is visible :-( but it does show a nice shiney subframe :-) And now fixed! (took the links from the photo's, not the photos in the shared album!) Yep all visible I think that's where I'd gone wrong as well so re-loaded the phots straight to the shared album'. . . . . I didn't ...

Re: Who to use for image uploads now discussion?

The other thing to do when testing posts, have a “incognito/in private” session of your browser open. It means your viewing the post as a normal user, so in that browser session, your not logged into your google account. good thinking i think I'll reload the photo onto Google Photos straight into m...

Ah, I’ve always used get image address on GP. now only get 'copy image address' when right click on the photos . . . :? So, what is visible here? should be an SS1 rear suspension unit selected the wee image icon between star and link, then pasted the address https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/wmoQr0...

Re: Who to use for image uploads now discussion?

has something chnaged with the web site. I used to put the photos for uploading into a 'shared folder' open the SHARED folder, open/select the photo right click and 'get image address' paste this between the 'image' logo now the OLD posts do appear (eg the cars at Cove in 2018 Scotland mini meet) an...

I know i can force the SS1 coil pack to trigger but not sure how you can prove the coil is getting a signal. try pulling off the main lead to the coil and see if you get a spark when you put a plug into it . .. dicky wiring, check the crankshaft sensor multi p...

Well I can confirm I got back home just before 1700, took it steady over the 275 miles from Darlo to home, sat about 60 after the first half hour, well it took me that long to find 'NORTH' it claimed to be averaging 46mpg although I reckon it used 31litres so that is nearer 40mpg, not sure ho...

it should be possible to easily lift it away from the window a little. That hinge-pin can gunge up and again, if the movements gets stiff, it won't sweep properly. A bit of oil and a woggle back and forth (with the arm removed from the window) can work wonders. David been there, but not a lot of tr...

james that really is pushing the 'spotted' link :-) but ten out ten for noticing it? I wonder if they bought a BIG batch of LH indicators :D (or was that previously discussed) kind of like the SS1 uses the same indicators as an 'upmarket' vehicle, but also fitted to Fiat 128/ Yugo etc, guess which d...
